940 days. What an incredible night. It doesn't matter how many times I return to Decorah, I always feel the same excitement, the same incredible happiness to be in this place and to run in this place. Leaving my aunt's house on the Baker Trail, I saw 11 deer in the first half mile. The sunset was casting beautiful colors in the sky over the intramural fields and I came across Trish Neubauer as she drove away from campus. Running along the dyke reminded me of a thousand runs before, and I couldn't help be excited to see all the Luther gear as I ran towards downtown. I ran into Trish once more before the end of my run, and saw the guys out for an evening run. By the time I got back to Baker Village, it was dark. I walked up the trail, no need to run it tonight. It's almost impossible to go for an easy run, despite the fact that I am running in the All-American tomorrow. Oh well, my legs have been feeling awful and today was too perfect to give up for a race I'm not exactly trained for anyway. So good to be back.
