Notes
Started race too far back in the pack so it took about 65 sec. to reach the start line. At least this one was chip timed. After a slow first mile, things opened up and I was able to hit my pace. By the 10K mark I was starting to tire and it was getting warm. I ran under every garden hose sprinkler out there. After about 8 miles, the mental count down began and I kept thinking "just jog the last 4...3...2..") My "jog" was about a 7:10 pace. Splits look like this: avg. of 8:00 for first 2 miles 3. 7:00 4. 6:18 5. 6:48 6. 6:55 7. 6:36 8. 7:13 9. 7:06 10 7:19 11.7:09 missed the last split. There is a nice downhill on this course at about mile 11. As I was approaching the finish, I heard the announcer read Alison's name. I had no idea she was running this one! With chip time I ended up about 30 sec. ahead of her. After the race I was able to congratulate Elva Dryer on her 2nd place finish when I saw her returning to her hotel.
