Notes

I ran with my son on his 3rd 5K race. We started out in the back of the pack but I was proud of him that instead of running with his friend he actually ran with me and ran his strongest instead of just jogging it. Last year he "ran" a 48 minute 5K because he stayed with a girld the whole time. The first mile was our slowest at 12:14/mile and his last 0.1 mile was the fastest at 9:58/mile. We dodged a lot of people walking in the first mile and things didn't really start to thin out until we were well into the second mile. We took a water break at the halfway point then we motored on towards the finish. He was dragging my arm at a couple of places saying he was tired and his knees were hurting but he was a trooper and we kept going despite the walk breaks. He was just a bit short of his PR but considering the crowds and the total lack of peer pressure (he ran his PR with a friend) I think he did amazingly well. He was talking even towards the end which shows me that his aerobic system is in great shape we just need to work on his endurance some more. All in all we had a great time.
