Notes
Ran this one with Doug and Dean. Had a blast and glad I shared it with them. First off, top notch race and one I would love to do again. Great attention to detail and I liked the course.
Plan was to go for it and see what I had. Goal has been to break 40:00 with a softer goal to break 43:00 and get back in the saddle a bit. There would be no "shutting it down and cruising in" today. Need to get that out of my head. It's a bad habit.
Sea of people at the start. A marathon, large race feel for sure. Met Laurie G in the shoot and we talked it up. Gun went off and I got up to speed surprisingly easy. However, by mile 2, I knew 40 wasn't happening. Wind wasn't there. So I settled into a race pace and worked to hold it. All went well until mile 6 where I faded a bit. But finished strong and loved the finish line. This was a top notch race.
All in all, very happy with my effort and showing. Didn't come close to my primary goal, but I had the drive and kept battling to the end. That had been strangely missing recently. More work to do, but progress.
I would be completely remiss if I didn't thank Dave for his bib! For whatever reason I had heard enough feedback about B2B that I probably would have never signed up myself. Thanks Dave for the opportunity. This will be a regular race for me in the future. Have unfinished business here...
