Worked on cadence and form the whole way - this was REALLY hard and I left this run super discouraged. Felt like I was working real hard for 8:40's. Do NOT like this cadence thing and will be work to change old habits - guess I kinda suck at this - learning all over how to run - next. Did spot Mike and had a nice 1 mile or so run with Gregory.....

Stop it. You are two weeks removed from a marathon, nothing will feel right. Working on faster cadence is probably good because yours is super slow but it isn't going to happen all at once and won't feel good. Ask any of us who have worked on it. We should leave no runs either super psyched or super discouraged. . My opinion you should just be running freely right now, maybe working on this stuff but mostly just enjoying running.

Yeah - thought it would be as easy as downloading the metronome on my ipod and just go out and do it - not. Will keep plugging away at it. Gonna try to not let it steal my joy. I still get to do what I love.... Damn short people!

More seriously for a second, I know what Salty used to do was figure out what his cadence was, let's say 160 for you. He would first start the metronome at like 164 and train to that. Then a week later to 166, etc. It makes sense, it's a huge change in form and muscle memory that can be eased into rather than taken all at once. I know I had a hard time with the metronome, all different muscles. A little like the advice people give to ease into barefoot running or minimal shoes. $.02.
