Notes
Ran this one with AC. Got up at o'dark 30 and made our way to the race. Felt pretty good going into this and before I knew it we were off. Not much to say to be honest - this race was a whirlwind from the start.
Never really found my pace and it was a grind (knew by mile 6 or so that I was going to struggle) - also didn't help that I had major stomach issues from mile 6 to the end. Fought hard to maintain pace for the first half and decided at 14 to cut the pace and just hang on for the ride. Best decision I made - the last 10 or so were actually enjoyable and I found some semblance of a pace. Settled in and tried to enjoy the really nice course (although way more hilly than I was trained for to be honest).
All in all, I am happy I ran this race - legs feel pretty good, no injuries and I'm coming out of it with a few lessons learned. So all in all, a good day:
1) DON'T drink a friggin coffee on the way to the race - damn, damn, damn that was a mistake I paid for the WHOLE race.
2) RESPECT the distance you stupid bastard - probably should have decided earlier to back off my target pace when I felt yuckie. Might have had a better experience overall.
3) NEED to run more hills - these "rollers" beat me up by mile 13 or so - they sapped the very life out of my hamstrings. Will need to be more diligent to add hills and repeats into this next cycle.
4) Most importantly - I LOVE to run. No BQ and feeling yuckie - who cares. This was fun and I loved the last 10 or so miles of this race. Really happy to have run this one.
Some nice recovery and off time before I gear up for Boston.
