16 mile trail race in harlan kentucky. I knoew it was going to be hilly but shit this was freaking crazy. The entire time you were either going up or down (mostly up). Mile 12 to 13 was the steepest hill I have seen. It shouldnt be called a hill cause I made the turn to go up it and my nose was almost touching the ground (not really but it was really bad). It was a mile long and about half way up my calf cramped up. I can say that nothing has physically nor mentally beat me like this hill did. A guy named Eric Grossman won the race. He was about 20-30seconds ahead of me. We ran together up yo mile 12 then the hill killed me and he gapped me pretty good. Once we got to the top I caught back up to him but could never get by him. I made a wrong turn at the finish but that only put me back about 10 seconds. The guy that won is a really good ultramarathoner. The race was ok but I dont think I will do it again. I am actually really pleased with my hill running right now.
