I don't know of too many other courses that can be tougher than this one... over 4400 feet worth of elevation climb and then an additional 4400 feet worth of lowering. overll the run went well... I put water, juice and a granola bar at the top of Kai Ikena Dr. and drank and ate the granola bar at 12.4 miles in. I took in water at Kalawai Park and at the Elementry school. I carried my juice bottle with me from 12.4 to 16. Overall, I think my body held up well... I think the key to the marathon is keeping my energy up, my legs started to hurt around mile 15 but really held up well. At mile 11 just before taking in my first calories I was pretty drained but the juice and granola bar carried me through. I don't know what the answer is for the marathon but I am thinking holding out for energy might be a good thing... holding to mile 9+ before taking in calories might allow me to hold out a little longer? don't know...
