I'm sure you're wondering why a horribly slow time and shorter mileage than the 26 meant for today. A few reasons.. 1) The focus of the run was to learn the course and make sure I ran on the correct trails. So I tended to stop a lot and check my map to be sure I was on the right trail or get my bearings. If I had stopped my watch each time I probably would have dropped a lot of time off my overall pace. 2) It was trail which is a lot more difficult than flat roads. 3) it was muddy and I mean really muddy. You can see what I mean when I post my pictures of my shoes post run. 4) I just wanted to go out and enjoy the day on some beautiful trails. I slowed it down and didn't focus on pushing myself today. I still felt fine to run more miles today but decided to just leave the day with such a fun muddy trail run.
