Notes

First trail run at Paris Mtn. All my previous trail runs have been in wooded conservation areas that are well groomed, not in the mountains so I was somewhat surprised at just how much of a difference that makes. Met up with fellow iRUNners so we had about 8-10 people which made it even more fun.

I had a blast on the first loop...Sulphur Springs/Fire Tower/Kanuga/Brissy Ridge. First mile was a lot like the trails at that park in Roswell so nothing I haven't really seen or ran before. Second mile was so much fun...downhill and technical and I felt so agile going through that section. Third mile was much tougher and a lot more technical but still a lot of fun. Mile splits were 10:24, 10:46, 12:23. We did stopped to regroup at each trail intersection.

Then the second loop, the much more challenging and way more technical...Brissy Ridge trail (counter clockwise). On the "Hikers Only" portion, I pretty much had to walk it just to stay safe and still almost fell about a half dozen times. It was steep, it was slippery and there were so many rocks and roots reaching out to grab you the second you lost focus and the leaves covering them up didn't make it any easier. Luckily I never actually went down. By this time I completed the Hikers Only portion, my legs were so heavy and dead, I knew the rest was going to be extremely hard and hard it was but got through it. Mile splits were 18:30 and 16:18.
