Legs have felt tired and sore all week so I knew a break through race was not in the cards. I just went out and tried my best, split a 5:37 first mile which is pretty much exactly what I wanted but then, thanks to dead legs and running island, I broke down and couldn't regain my strength until 800 to go. Pick it up there until 400 to go, pick up a little stronger until 200 to go and got into my final kick finishing the last 200m in about 29sec. Even with a pain in my chest I just through down everything I had, and because of that, I am happy with the race.
Also, as Coach said, even on my off day I pulled off an 18:03 -- so that's a HUGE improvement off of last year where my average was about 20minutes for the 5k to this season at about 18minutes.
