Notes
Goal today was ideally to run 2.25 miles, but due to burnout on Monday I was willing to accept 2 miles.
Tried running with my knee brace--bad idea! Had to tear it off and carry it with me 4 minutes into the run.
Mood wise I was feeling quite discouraged due to my fatigue on Monday, the hot sun today, my concerns over my knee and fear that my progress had hit a wall. But once the constricting knee brace was off, I was good to go! Started out at too fast a pace and started to reach a limit around .8 miles. Pushed through until 1.25 miles...
At this point I gave myself permission to REALLY kick back the pace because I knew if I didn't, I wouldn't have it in me for the 2.25. I found a perfect pace for the distance, and stuck to it... very slow pace but my fitness level just isn't to a point where I can accommodate anything faster.
To cut a long story short, I set a PR both for time and distance. 34 minutes is the longest I've ever run straight, and 2.25 miles is the farthest distance I've ever covered running. I am VERY pleased with my performance--would that my pace was faster, but you have to take small victories as they come.
My knee is okay -- I think as long as I build up the muscles in it on a regular basis, I will not have any major injuries to contend with.
SUCCESS!
