Notes

Ran to Old Farm Road and back today. It was kind of hot out, and of course the flies were around as well. I must look like a maniac when I run, always swinging my arms around and jerking my head from side to side.

The run was decent, although I can't in good conscience list it as low HR, even though I did average below my "MAF" heart rate. I intended to do an easy run averaging 145 bpm, but somehow I couldn't manage it. I'm not sure if it was the heat, dehydration, me being less disciplined, or what, but I couldn't keep my HR down. On these days I just run what feels like easy, but they've been happening more often lately and that kind of irritates me. I've been trying to stay reasonably true to Hadd's Approach, but I can't seem to help going over on my HR. He says the pace isn't important, just the intensity, but it's hard for me to wrap my head around the idea that the intensity at 145 bpm is the same whether I'm running 11:00 min/miles on a bad day versus 8:30s on a good day. It's a weird concept.
