    Not dead. Yet.

Fashion Nugget & Blonde on Blonde are right on!  The Femmes album is great too.

Has anybody mention Hotel California yet?  From New Kid in Town to the Last Resort,  every song is a gem.

PS.  Eagles were just added on Spotify!

How can we know our limits if we don't test them?

      Cool Jump Suit

Van Halen - Van Halen (debut)

Finally!  Another VH fan.  Awesome album!

        So bittersweet,
        This tragedy
        Won't ask for absolution;
        This melody,
        Inside of me,
        Still searches for solution.
        A twist of faith,
        A change of heart
        Cures my infatuation.
        A broken heart,
        Provides the spark
        For my determination.

I would add Porcupine Tree Fear of a Blank Planet as a more recent perfect album. No weak songs on it, everything is quite listenable and flows together.

"dancing on the path and singing, now you got away,

you can reach the goals you set from now on, every day"

          Sonata Arctica

I thought I covered the 90's pretty well too.

              NIN - Pretty Hate Machine

               "I... am a fucking moron." - MattM

I noticed there weren't a lot of female artists in this list.  Here are some of my favorites:

Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette

                Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman

                Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow

Tuesday Night Music Club - Sheryl Crow

Exile in Guyville - Liz Phair

                whitechocolatespaceegg - Liz Phair

The Emancipation of Mimi - Mariah Carey

10,000 Maniacs - Our Time in Eden

"If you have the fire, run..." -John Climacus

some pretty good stuff in here...

I'd side with Pretty Hate Machine for NIN and for RHCP agree with Blood Sugar Sex Magic.

Some less popular but still awesome start to finish:

Rollins Band - The End of Silence

The Lawrence Arms - Greatest Story Ever Told

Jawbreaker - 24 Hour Revenge Therapy

                    more recently:

                    Lydia - Illuminate

                    RVIVR - s/t

                    Clutch - Earth Rocker

                      Good one.  I also forgot...

                      Retrospective - Indigo Girls

This may have been a "best of" album, though.  I'm not sure.

I listed a few by Suzanne Vega. She's still at it doing these great small shows and producing her own records.  I have Sheryl Crow-- it's a great album that I forgot all about when making my list. Not a stinker on there. Another perfect effort by a solo female artist is  Kate Bush's Hounds Of Love. In the relaxation/meditative category of perfect album's there's Enya's Shepard Moons.

                          Definitely Weezer's Blue Album
                          No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom

                          Imagine Dragons - Night Visions

                          HermosaBoy

My son recommends (and I would agree):

                            Bon Iver -- Bon Iver

And you can quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. Groucho Marx

                            Rob

                              Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow

Tuesday Night Music Club - Sheryl Crow

                              Good stuff!

Someone mentioned Norah Jones too - such a sweet voice.

How about Madonna?  Would we put any of her stuff on the list?  (can't say I've seen her mentioned yet... but maybe I missed it).   Ray of Light was something I could listen to in its entirety, but it's not a typical Madonna album either...

I thought about Madonna but I usually buy her singles.  I guess her first album was good.  According to Wikipedia, it had Lucky Star, Borderline, and Holiday.  3 pop classics for girls growing up in the 80s.

                                Good stuff!
