Love that song. It is one of the best skating songs around. Can you say Backwards skate! I'm not sure how I would feel about running to it though...
"Shut up Legs!" Jens Voigt
some call me Tim
Pretty much the entirety of Fang Island's first album (self-titled) is ridiculously uplifting anthem rock. This one in particular is my regular pre-5k jam... many PRs have been forged by the endless repetition of this song on the way to the race:
Welcome Wagon
This one is pretty great, too, and was my introduction to the band:
Daisy
ME WEBLARG
tomatolover
2 of my favorite race songs come from a documentary movie about underprivileged kids in a high school cooking program in Philadelphia- PressureCooker... Great movie. Great soundtrack

I am strict on the beat of the songs. They have to match my running. Here are a few songs that have my beat: http://toprunnersreview.com/#/4-points-of-proper-running/

Not sure if these are "lesser known," but they are 30 years old so maybe off the radar for some:
Blondie: One Way or Another
A-ha: Take on Me
Van Halen: anything except the slower ballads

Just had time to check the last reply here at the moment, but "Take on Me" by Aha has been in my top-5 all time. Positive song.
Another song same era I put right next to it: "Ain't nuthin gonna Break My Stride" by Matt Wilder.
Now the Video for this? A "Solid Gold" video, certainly indicative of the times and ridiculous on every level ! But.... Just close yer eyes and listen to the song instead, :-)

Here's one that gets me going that I suspect nobody will like.

I love it! (the video). We used to watch that show when I was a kid - my sister's goal in life for a while was to be a "solid gold dancer".
