Wilting in the heat like a sad flower (Read 1266 times)

Yep, running when it's cold is definitely easier. It's like running in the air conditioning. My nose doesn't run.

    Jazz hands!

Ha. LA has actually just made me a whiny runner--the one time I had to run in 40 degree weather (visiting my parents), you'd think I was doing the Iditarod from the way I dressed.
run run run AHHHHHH run run run

      TRIing to beat the heat!

I'm located in South FL and the heat and humidity has been pretty notorious for the past month. I've taken over half of my weekly mileage indoors at this point (to include running AND spinning). I loathe treadmill running, but it's SO humid outside and with the dew point way up there as well, my body can't cool itself effectively. The sweat just will not evaporate! Earlier in the month, I started running late at night... around 8:00 PM (just after sunset). However, it's still pretty darn warm around that time (upper 80's) so that's when I knew I had to take a good chunk of my training indoors. We had a rare 'cooler' morning today (70F with 78% humidity) and I was able to get in an 8-miler, but these sort of special days will be coming to an end completely soon. I'm plugging for late October. Roll eyes

It's pretty hot today. One, I'm gonna run shirtless. Two, I'm gonna slow down a little bit.

Heh, and 40 is within my "ideal temp" range. I am happiest running when it's 35-55º. Much warmer and I'm a sweaty pig and much colder and I loathe all the laundry that a run creates.

              Dude.

On your deathbed, you won't wish that you'd spent more time at the office.  But you will wish that you'd spent more time running.  Because if you had, you wouldn't be on your deathbed.

18 to 20 degrees F is my ideal temperature, as long as it's not too windy. It feels fantastic! My first "hot weather" run was this morning. 72 degrees and sunny at 8 am - ychh. It was supposed to be our long run, but my RP and I decided to postpone it and do only 4.5 miles instead. It sucked. I'm hoping we can acclimate before long. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 52 when we run, so we'll go for the long one.
I like it cooler. 35-50F no wind 50-60F with wind Yesterday, I was hoping to do a nice slow 8, but I got pooped out Dead. 85F is hot. Angry

It's funny to see you call 72 degrees "hot weather." I'd say my perfect temp is 55-60, but I don't really think about it that much until it gets into the high 80's or low 90's. Of course if we had much 18-20 degree weather here, my treadmill would be worn out. Anything below 40 is pretty brutal here, given the high humidity and our lack of conditioning to cold weather.

I thought we had crap weather inthe UK and long for the heat but on reflection after reading this thread I think I'm happy with what I've got as at least we dont get much snow these days

Last night we had a freeze warning so we had to cover the freshly planted flowers in the wifes garden. And the heat has been off for a couple of weeks so when I woke up this morning it was 58 in the house. And today I think we may get up to a balmy 55. Big grin

I think Minnesota is a lot like Maine! 86 degrees here - hottest it's been since last August, probably. But then we'll be back to normal (44 overnight and high of 64 tomorrow). I guess it's a good thing people have different thermostats, or one part of the country might get too crowded!

Me too..... Charlotte today is 90 degrees. WAY to early for this hot ass weather.... Last year I was not running yet, so I am a little worried about the adaptation to the hot weather. Looks like lots of EARLY Mornings for us...... Wink
