Ever since I discovered I was part of this game I've become addicted to watching my rankings. Lol

Me too, lol.
Cy, have you thought of continuing it through 2022? We can all rotate working on the results (like one person per week) if you prefer.

I have thought about it, and not sure yet. As you have noticed I don't check the dailies much lately, same for Strava. So I don't know if I want to "commit" to another year.
But maybe I could clean up the worksheet and give it to you guys to keep the game going, or like you said D, take turns or something.
Now that I have the hang of it, it takes me about 10 minutes to get everyone's mileage and post it. So not that much work.
But as I said, the file is a bit sketchy and not easily adaptable to adding or removing a new player once the initial setup is made. Maybe I could work something out to make it more flexible next year.
ETA: I've already thought of something to make the file more adaptable and reusable...

Ooh, it’s a dead heat! Mine was 13.24% last week, it’s amazing how much it can move with just one week of post-marathon recovery!

Yeah, pretty neat!
Week 50
Year is almost over! There will not be 52 full weeks, so there is only one more.
About the RA miles game, as some of you have seen, I thought of joining until I had to commit to a number of miles. I juste can't do it. I can't choose and be accountable for my choice for one whole year.
I don't know if this format is better, though. I mean for someone who is competitive and wants to win this game, the scoring system is not good. I did not intend it to be a player A vs player B kind of scoring system, but rather a player A vs player A of previous years.
I added the consistency part for myself (the StdDev%), and I like it as it suits MY WAY of running, but it is not good for someone who runs seesaw like mileage, which is usually the case for people who race a lot.
It still has been an interesting experiment. As I said earlier, I will play around with the numbers a bit next week to test different scoring scenarios, but whatever I do, it will not be exciting. I'm an analytical guy, and for things to be exciting, there almost needs to be drama involved, and I get my share of drama in smoothies, not in miles games.
If you have suggestions on how the scoring could have been, if it's not too complicated, maybe I'll try to compile your rules to see what the results would have been with them. But I don't want to get your hopes too high, as I did this in an Excel spreadsheet, and what I gained in getting the whole thing done with little effort, I lose in possibilities I would have at my disposition had I programmed the whole thing.
Cyberic - Thanks for running this game; it's been an interesting diversion for me during these challenging times. I like number crunching too and with one week to go I figure the only way I can get to 2nd place is if DavePNW has a really aberrant week, or if one of the runners close behind Baboon catches up on the StdDev score, thus lowering Baboon's total score. I benefited from having my highest annual mileage total ever, thus allowing me to rack up 12 and 13 point weeks on a regular basis.
I think this format works best on a multi-year basis, given a player's target will change each year based on prior year results. The more points you score from miles in one year, the harder it will be to get points next year (and vice versa). This could be really interesting over a 10-year period; seeing who moves up and down and who's consistent from year to year. Of course, that's a major commitment and not one I'm asking of you or anyone. Just saying it would be interesting.

Yeah, I'm not counting on that. I'll be happy to take home bronze.
Thanks for doing this. I only realized this year I was part of it so I've only been paying attention to my position recently. I've really no idea how it's calculated and what a good strategy might be to improve my standings. My running this year has been very sporadic and as some of you know I'm probably slowest here so to be in the middle of the standings/pack is pretty cool for me to see.
Thanks again. And I hope to participate more in the chats.

The rules and the way it is calculated is on the original post of this thread.
In short! Your target miles is the average of the past 3 years, so you’re essentially competing against your former self. There is no real strategy to improve your standing except run more. You get 10 points for running your target every week, and an extra point for each tenth of your target extra. Again, running more means more points.
