Always wondered why someone like Tegencamp, a 2:12 marathoner, would latch on to the lead pack which is running at a 2:04 pace.

I'm rooting for #162.
He hung in there for a good five minutes, which is exactly five minutes more than I'd be able to hang. Still, it is very disappointing to see him fade so early. I thought he had a chance.

It is raining in Springfield, MA (where I work), about 45 minutes west of Boston...
More misinformation from the announcers. There were 18 starters, not 15, in the 1897 inaugural race.

The course was laid out to reflect as much as possible the original Athens Olympic Marathon course. That's one of the reasons it did not go through Lexington and Concord even though it is run on Patriot's Day.
