Yes!! Way to go, Zel. I'm a big fan of yours and this is especially sweet because of your ability to come back from your injury and time off. Your splits were great and I think you ran a super race. It goes without saying that you earned that waffle.  Smile

Yay, Zelanie! That's a great race. Congrats on the PR and negative split. Hey, I run in Balega socks and Kinvaras too - and our PRs are not far off each other.

So, when's your next half? Im looking at one in March, but it's hilly, or one in May, but it seems so far away.

Congratulations! Great race. Coming back from injury, very inspiring to those of us who have been through the depressing "will I ever run again" mindset.

            Zelanie

Jack- You are too kind!  I'm a fan of yours, too, and will be cheering from Oregon when you're out there running your marathon!

Kiwi- Clearly you need some black Zensah calf sleeves if you want to join the club!  My next half is April 13. Smile  It does have a mile-long hill, but not a very steep one.

Dave- That was me after my last race.  I just wanted to be able to go out and run 5 easy without worrying about my knee someday, and even that seemed like an impossible dream.  So happy that I can race on it now.

              Margo, Bin- Thanks!

Congrats on the new PR!  Great job!

Congrats on the PR!  Great job on buckling down and continuing to push, instead of just settling for letting your pace drop.  You ran a great race!

Another Balega sock/Kinvara runner here. Smile  (I also wear cheap Starter socks, but I do like my Balegas and will probably pick up some more)

If I can make a recommendation for your next half in April, more 15 milers.  I think that's one of the things that really helped me last winter when getting ready for my PR half this past Spring.  I got really comfortable with that distance and I think it helped me keep a steady pace throughout the race.

Oh, and that waffle looks awesome! Big grin

Congratulations, Zelanie, on the PR & Half!  That's a great time, and sounds like a well executed race.  I really have a lot of respect for your work ethic and the way you go after your goals.  Well written report and absolutely adorable pictures!  Why can't we all look that cute when we race?

Oh yeah, did you really have to tempt us with that waffle picture?  Really?

Congrats on a well-run race and PR too! You did a great job. I laughed at the lady calling her doctor...interesting. Anyway, nice way to come back from injury and it sounds like you'll go way better than sub 1:55 soon.

Congratulations on your race. I believe your new sig should be "I run for decadent waffle".  BTW, you provided a great idea about hand warmers within gloves.  I may try at my next cold weather race.

Great job zel!  I'm a big fan too. So strong and consistent. That waffle makes me hungry. so, when is the FM ?

                            Rick, D- Thanks!

D2- It was on your suggestion that I went up to 15 this time, and I'm glad I did.  I'm hoping that getting more runs at that distance will be easier this time around since I won't be starting from scratch.  This time, I was racing against the calendar to get the LR mileage up in time.

Cherie- You are too nice, as always!  I don't know how you run down there where it is so dry!  I felt like I was shriveling up when I tried to run in New Mexico a couple of weeks ago!

bozydeco- For the warmup, the hand warmers were nice.  I think they'd be better with mittens, though.  I balled my hands up in the palm of my gloves and wrapped then around the hand warmer.  They had a garbage at the start, so I ditched the hand warmers there, but kept the gloves.  It was nice to not start out with hands that were already icicles.

Traci- I'm thinking next fall for my first full. Smile  I don't want to rush into it and have a miserable experience.

Nicely done, Zel! Only a few seconds off your goal time, great comeback for you!  Looking strong in that first photo!  And a nice view of the Great Legs too... Big grin
