Saturdailies go long (Read 43 times)

No running today. It's cold, windy and snow flurries are blowing around. I've hit a mileage PR for the month already and my legs are sore, so not going to bother. Will do some core and glute stuff later.

Lily, that would definitely wake me up. DH's shower mirror falls on a regular basis and it scares me each time. Your house looks amazing.

    +1 to that.

    Life is good.

I knew that was a bad idea to run immediately post massage. Ouch.

Rest day today. I love being a 5k guy when y'all are doing 15-20 mile long runs and mine is only 7-8 miles.

        Personal Bests:

        800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

Cutting back for two weeks during what would otherwise be peak time for MRT is not something we see when injury is not a part of the equation. But a case could be made that it could be good for those doing back to back cycles (albeit one of them modest). How are you feeling? Are your legs back?

I felt really fit before I went on vacation. This week I think my speed paces have felt a little harder. My legs feel alright but I think I lost something with my days off.  So I kinda gave up on the idea that I could PR at Boston (which was never my plan until I did that fuel run and I starting thinking I was faster than last fall).  So now I am trying to decide between running it as hard as I can with what training I did, or taking it easy with the hopes of minimizing recovery time.

I tell ya whut, one benefit of running 20 miles is that my skinny man suit fits like a boss tonight!

I experienced something similar after taking it light during January. Whatever it is I was killing it before then but have not quite found it since. It sucks too because I thought my body would appreciate the break but apparently I did not strike the proper balance between rest, volume and quality.

That's cuz you're smooth like that.

Or sick of them, hopefully not.

I'm okay with that - I'd rather be sick of long runs than scared of them!

cjones - looking forward to seeing how your race goes too! I've been just surviving my HMP runs, but it sounds like you're on track to smash your goal!

Lily - glad you're not dead f (MTA: the cat in my lap posted for me. Thanks muffins!) from flower pot! That would have scared the bejeesus out of me.

SRD.  The plan today is to re-plant the collard greens and broccoli rabe that didn't sprout -- for some reason only 1/4 of what I planted came up.  I may need new seeds.  I also have to replant the tomato and pepper plants I started from seeds indoors into bigger containers and start hardening the off to get read to be planted outside in a couple of weeks.

Weather tomorrow for my race looks to be in the mid-50s to start, warming up to the low 60s.   Light wind, humidity around 70%.  I think this is the first time I've entered a race where I literally have no idea what will happen and no expectations other than to enjoy the day, and be ready to pull up or out, if I sense anything not feeling right with my wonky left leg.

It sounds like a beautiful day for running tomorrow for you. I hope you enjoy the race!

                        6 easy for me.

Then I had a dream Tom Brady took me dress shopping.

I hope you picked him out something floral and breezy.

8 in no particular hurry.  Think spring.
