Hobbling Hobbit Tuesday Penguins (Read 16 times)

PADRunner

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

      Barking Mad To Run

The sun is shining, Texas Fall is coming and the temps are dropping...only 91 degrees today so I can finally go back to after-work running instead of the early a.m. stuff.   Plan on doing an easy/run walk today either around lunch-time on the campus or after work, probably on the Riverwalk if it's after work.

I really have to pay more attention to the calendar.  I signed up for 3 races this weekend, which are all this Saturday at the same start time! .....brain dump!  Duhhhh; That would be a neat trick for me to be at all of them, I'd have to clone myself.  One of them I simply mis-read and thought it was on Sunday, duhhh.   One is a cancer support run, one is a veteran's support run, and one is for Parkinson's Disease.  Well, I will do the cancer run - when it comes to doing races, my priorities are cancer events first, since cancer is very personal for me, then runs that support my fellow veterans, and then whatever else;  I will just 'donate' my entries for the other two, so I guess a couple of my friends will get a free race entry if they're available to do the races.

              Penguin Power!

I'm heading out for 7 or so shortly.  Yesterday I decided to take a rest day - not because of muscle soreness or pain, just because of general tiredness.  I'm a wuss who needs like 7 or 8 hours of sleep to function and I didn't get enough on Sunday night.  Last night I slept like a rock for a solid 9 hours though so I think I should be good to go for today.

I've decided marathon training is strictly harder than half marathon training =P  I don't know how people can run high mileage all the time.  Maybe my body just needs to adjust some more.  Or maybe I should get my ass to the doctor and get some blood work done because I'm so tired.

                Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Group - is gonna be a beast tonight!

                  Moving Finish Race again - 10 Min + 2k = uuuggg!

Especially if Valentine or Zambrano come - they should cover just over 2 mi to set the flag.

Yes, and it will.  I remember when 50mpw was OMG so high.  Now it's my average for 2015.

Sapf, it could be the long runs. I can handle higher mileage pretty well, but LRs wear me down.

Yeah that's probably it because I feel most tired for the two days after them. Hubby was really concerned so I went to the doctor to get some blood work done. I'm mostly vegan too so it could be a b12 or iron issue. I'll get results back in a week or so.

                          Return To Racing

Back to singlet running for the next 10 days.  6 mile run/walk for us and felt great.  Amazing what those 1 minute walk breaks do for us.

Enjoy your night runs, PAD and DR.

If I run/walk instead of run, am I still tapering when I cut back the week before an event?

If I run/walk instead of run, but I'm moving at my maximum ability, am I racing or completing an event?

I signed up for the RnR HM on Sunday and I'm going back and forth between, "easy, brah, this isn't my first luau" to "HOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPWHATAMIDOING?"

Session with the trainer tonight and maybe some exercise will relax me

I would say it's tapering.  If you can Run/Walk faster than Run/Run, I'll call it racing.  Better ask Galloway.
