Don't let Sly's comments talk you out of running a fun race that's over very quickly. It's only the last 100m or so that gets a little uncomfortable and that's true in any race.
Oh, but I don't have to let his comments dissuade me -- if they're only held on Friday nights, I can't run them anyway. Problem solved. (It's better if I don't want to do them, then -- I don't have to get mad about not being able to.)
