I'll be dropping in the standings as I'm limited by some ankle soreness.
I'm sorry to hear about your ankle. Hopefully it will improve quickly.

Week 43 - Still a lot of people within reach of moving up a place or two.
8 weeks to go - game ends on the last Sunday of the year, which is December 25 this year. For the multi-year scoring, I figured I'd just use cross-country scoring. First place gets 1 point, second place gets 2 points, etc. and the lower your score over the year(s), the better you've done. Not sure how to handle people who weren't in year 1 since they'll have lower scores - give them the average score for each year they missed? Mostly, I'm trying to keep it simple.
Week 44 - No change in the standings since last week, but there are still some close contests.
Week 45 - A 3 way tie for 4th place has emerged.
Huh, I can’t figure out why my std dev is so high!

You're only 0.93% away from getting the 10 points from RoS. Use the Solver in Excel to see what mileage you need to run weekly for the next few weeks to maximize your StDev. (Hint: running your YTD weekly average won't necessarily be the best way to lower your StDev.)
For me, this is a parameter that I don't want to optimize. Running the exact same mileage every week is not a good thing!
Not a good thing for your running, correct, but for scoring its the best and what's more important?
Depends which guru you follow.
LOL
Week 46 - So between 2nd and 3rd, it's not just me trying to maintain a slim 5-point lead over HCK, but if my StdDev% winds up larger than Cyberic's, then I'll lose 10 StdDev points. Meanwhile, there's only a 14 point spread from 4th to 8th place with Bluerun, Baboon, Cyberic, BerthaSlayer, and wcrunner2 all in the mix. Changes in StdDev standing can generate some big swings still.
5 weeks left in the year for this game.
Week 47 11 points separating 4th - 7th place.
4 weeks left.
Week 48 - A change in the StdDev rankings moved BerthaSlayer up a spot overall.

It's going down to the wire!!
Spoiler. I have no thoughts of doing higher mileage through the end of the year. I'll try to keep my sd below 10.
