Howdy. The wind was blowing at about 40 MPH yesterday; therefore, my allergies are killing me today. I want to do a tempo run tonight, but I will just have to see. I might be a little too congested for it.

    Personal Bests:

    800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

    Dad on the run.

Hello everyone! Crazy Monday morning today at work!

Ok so yesterday it was over 60 degrees and sunny and you would have thought it was dead of summer the way my dogs acted after we got done with our run. I have been taking them every day with me in the hopes that it helps burn some of their extra energy as they have been getting a little stir crazy at times. Anyways, this is how they stayed for about an hour after we did a very slow 3 miles.

      Chasing the sub 20 5K.

Ran 3.5 miles on Saturday, including a 1/4 mile big steep hill.

        Ran 3 miles on Sunday.

        No run today.

        Soccer game tonight.

Hope you are feeling better now, Dave!

Sounds like you need an SRD, Damaris.

Ice-free is always good for a run, Jerry.

Sorry about the not feeling well, Kristin, hope you can fight off whatever is trying to get into your system.  Besides your boyfriend, I mean.

            Happy rest day, Bin!

Poor Zoe. Wishing her all the best, Zelanie, and a speedy recovery!

Wow, Lauren...hope all you are doing is working for you so you can get out there and run.

Sorry, Gustav.  I can kind of relate what you're going through, I seem to have the cough from hell that won't go away.  Yet the doc says my lungs are clear - so that's good anyway - so I can still run, but meanwhile they are trying to figure out why I'm still coughing.  They've had me try so many different meds I feel like I'm in an FDA clinical trial, lol.

Good luck with the C25K program, Mitch!   Yeah, your temps...I think the weather we had here for a few days moved your way. We are nice and sunny now, so thanks for taking the rain from us!

Well, HsM, sounds like he earned his football watching.   Sorry, HsM, but knee rehab - and then knee maintenance - is a FOREVER thing. Unless you can somehow get some superpowers or get a  bionic knee like Steve Austin.

Hope the stiff legs loosen up, PAD.

Congrats on your longest run ever, SO42!  Good luck with the training!

WHAT?  40 mph winds?  How come you got that and we had such nice weather?  San Antonio is only 5 hours South of where you are.  Crazy how our weather can be so different at once in so many places in our state. Sorry about the allergies, Dan, hope that resolves quickly for you!

lol, Jimmy...they look like me after a run! Wow, those are some nice looking doggies.

Good luck at the soccer game OFS.  Are you playing, or spectating, coaching, reffing, or what?  Whichever, enjoy.

Scotty-- I'm sorry you're having such a moilsome day.  Sounds like you had a good weekend.  I"ll have to read your report soon.

Dave-- Sad  Yick @ being sick.  I hope you feel better soon.

Docket-- what's in your profile picture.  It looks like you're standing by a lifesized toy soldier.

Zelanie-- good luck to you dog.  I sure hope the surgery is a success.

Gus-- wow, it does sound like you've really been under the weather.   Hope it doesn't get any worse.  take care of yourself.

Mitch-- good for you for doing the c25k for your coworkers.  What an awesome way to give back.

HsM-- LOL @ too bad the things that help aren't fun.  That sure seems to be some sort of life rule or something.  Hope you get your walk in.

SO42-- woooohooooo@ your 9 mile LR.  It's always exciting to go further then you've ever been.  Congratulations.

Dan-- ugh.  The wind is so bad for the allergies.  Got my fingers crossed that you'll be able to get a run in today.

Jimmy---ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh@ your dogs!  You wore them out.  Poor things, but oh so cute!

I did 13-1/2 miles on the trails.  I love getting out this time of year.  I'm thinking about signing up for classes again this semester.  I'm such a dork, I love taking classes, even if I don't need them!

I got a little walk in, 1/2 a mile.  It's something, and at least it was sunny and not cold!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

We are just a little too close to Oklahoma here so that sucking can really kick up the wind speed.

                        Hi Pens...

DDs swim meet went well. She qualified to swim in the Winter JO meet for the 200 breaststroke. Nice!

Today I am pacing the one mile run with my PE class and I will do some miles on my own while DD has swim practice.

                        Hope you are all well.

                          Return To Racing

Yay, it's 40 today, but there was a strong west wind, so I had to turn back and get my baclava.  Felt a little wobbly, but got 5 miles done at 10:15.

Ice is gone, but, so many potholes remain.

Zel, She Can and whoever else asked, the movie, Inside Llewyn Davis was pretty good.  Takes place in the 50's about a loser folk singer trying to work in Greenwich Village.  Good acting and story.  Very interesting characters.  Thankfully, George Clooney wasn't in it.  Music was good too.  Not much action, except when Llewyn gets beat up.  Might be an Oscar nominee, but it won't win.  That will go to 12 Years a Slave.  I'd say, Rent It.

                              Hey penguins!

I really need to look up the movies that were nominated. Jerry, these are all nominated movies y'all are going to see, right?

We saw Frozen. Having 3 toddlers means I'm pretty much only seeing Disney movies. Ha. Frozen was great. Loved it.

Went to the gym. Did 3 dread mill and then a leg workout.  Raining all day here and a snowflake in the forecast for Wednesday.  I have mixed feelings about that.

Scotty - I hope your day ended up not too moilsome after all.  Did you enjoy the hills this afternoon?

Dave - taking it easy is the best way to get well again.  I hope you feel better soon.

Damaris - I hope your post-marathon recovery goes well.  I am really amazed at the way you keep running long races with all the pain you're feeling.  You are a true maniac.

Jerry -  Good job on the windy run.

Kristin - I hope your day got better after the hectic start.

Bin - I hope you had a good rest day.  I know, it was Monday, so not all that restful.

Zelanie - how is Zoe tonight?  Did she have surgery?

Lauren - I'm glad your legs are behaving themselves.  Your comeback has been a good one.

Gustav - another sick runner.  I hope your chest congestion improves with the antibiotics.

Mitch - good for you, mentoring the new runners.  It sounds like a popular program, getting so many people started.

HopesMom - Good job on the walk in the sun. I hope the knees behaved. Do you have access to a bicycle?  That can help bad knees a lot.

PADRunner - recovery runs don't have to be long, just enough to shake out the stiffness.

SO42 - which HM are you running?  Which plan are you using?

Dan - did you run in that wind?  I hope your allergies clear up soon.  I have a hard time doing long runs on weekends because so many of my neighbors light fires in the winter and mow their lawns in the summer, and both really trigger allergies in me.

Jimmy - boxers have the wrong kind of face to make good distance runners.  It's harder for them to breathe.  No wonder they were tired.  Plus there's all the excitement, which wears them out too.

OFS - I hope the soccer game went well.  Were you playing or watching?

Cherie - good job on the long trail run.  After yesterday's hike, I've been rethinking my desire to do more trail running.  We have some really rocky stretches around here that make it hard to do more than a few miles without it getting technical.  It's hard for a beginner.  When I'm traveling, I love doing trail runs, but that's on smooth trail, not rocky trail.

Jack - congratulations to your daughter.

Tracilynn -  the treadmill may not be as much fun, but at least you stayed warm and dry.

AFM:  we had mostly sunshine today and temps in the mid-40s, so I had a really good 7 mile run.  Tomorrow the weather is supposed to change and we'll lose this lovely warmth, but I was glad to take advantage of it while we had it.
