Awood - That is cold. I was freezing my butt this morning and it was 22 here.

Jerry - Have a good run on the treadmill.

Scott - Good luck getting your run in today.

StoneFence - Have a nice run.

Kristin - I hope your foot gets better soon. I am lucky to have an ortho than runs HM and marathons so he speaks my language.

Damaris - I hope Trixie is o.k. and has a speedy recovery.

HM - I hope you get better soon.

Jack - Kids make our lives exciting.

Melanie - Congrats on the 60 mile week. That is awesome and twice as many as I ran last week. I wish you the best of luck this week staying healthy and having another big mileage week.

    Personal Bests:

Oh, and thank you everyone who commented on yesterday's picture.  Yes, I had that stupid grin on almost all of those race pics.  Joking

Cherie- There's a 10 miler that is sponsored by my employer in March, and I'm already registered for the local HM in April.  So the real question is if I want to take aim at my 5K or 10K PR before then.  I'm kind of thinking no, but we'll see what comes along.

Dan- Thank you!  I hope that your calves feel better soon!

I hope Peanut and Trixie are okay. It's no fun when the babies are hurt or not feeling well.

Kristin, I sure hope your foot is nothing too serious. I need to look at dr google, I wonder if that's what I had.

I'll be taking a RD today, then one more easy run, maybe tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the expo and hope to score some more shoes. I'm very excited for my grand kids, but a little sad that I can't see them cross the line. I start at 8:00, and they start their one mile at 9:00. Maybe they will stick around to see ole papaw cross the line.

          Fear is a Liar

            Hello Penguins!

At work on the phone so let me see what. Can do.

Cherie - Congrats on your marathon! And just wanted to add that the picture you made for Jack is awesome! When I first saw it I thought it was a race flyer design for the marathon!

Jack - I will always know you as Jack! I need to know something - all of us here on the forums are amazed at your BQ and your running. Do your kids look up to you in amazement too? I don't have any kids so I don't know what it would be like.

Kristin. - try to massage your foot. Feet are  something you can work over pretty good yourself. There are a lot of muscles in the foot .

I ran 10 yesterday morning out in the remnants of Sunday nights snow. It's snowing again today but I hope to get out for at least 6.

I'm so vegetarian I don't even eat animal crackers!

            obiebyke

Scotty, so sorry about Peanut! I grew up with an outdoor cat, but I won't let mine out. But then again, with two, they can get puncture wounds indoors. Joking

Kristin, sorry about your injury! I hope you get some good non-Google advice soon. Lame doctor.

              Z, crazy mileage! Congratulations!

Awood - I don't mind the TM that much, because I can crank the music up and I really like running to music.  I don't run with music outdoors because I'm running on the streets (no sidewalks) and I like the hear the cars coming around the corner and over the hill.

Jerry - your wife is good at hinting, and you're good at reading her hints.  My husband can't get a hint if it's given with a 2 x 4.

Scotty - I hope that Peanut is all right.  They will probably give you antibiotics, just in case of infection.  Hope she doesn't need stitches.

Damaris - I hope your vet gives you good news.

Stonefence - goretex only works when it's clean, so it's not as great as it's cracked up to be.  I find my feet sweat so much in goretex boots I stopped buying it.

Kristin - I'm sorry your foot still hurts so much.  Did the doctor give you any help at all?

HopesMom -  sorry the rash is back.  Could it be stress related?

Jack - I've seen video of runners post-marathon, I can just imagine you in Frankenstein mode.  Of course, by next week you'll be back in Achilles mode.  Also, why are you called Jack if your name is Brad?  Should I recognize the reference?  (I don't watch many movies.)

Z - congratulations on the 60, though I'm not sure that doing two weeks of running in one week is ideal.

Cherie - enjoy your rest day.  You earned it.

Dan - 22 is cold enough.

Mitch - good luck with your race this weekend.  Is it local or do you have to travel?

Gustav - enjoy your run in the snow.

Our snow turned to ice yesterday.  It was supposed to drop another couple of inches this morning, but so far there's only a dusting.  The streets are clear, so I may try to run outside.  I just need to avoid running on the edges, where it's solid ice.

                Return To Racing

                  Oh no poor peanut scotty!!!

Seems like lots of people are getting snow all over. Us too.

The foot has not gotten better. In fact, after a full day working on it (I am on my feet walking around at work all day) it has gotten worse. Dr Google tells me peroneal tendonitis. God damn it!!!! I took off work today. Was hoping for a snow day so I wouldn't have to but alas we didn't close even though it is snowing a lot. There's no way I was going to gimp around all day, wanted a day of total rest and icing. Decided to gimp on over to the doctors to get it checked out. My annual physical is coming due for work anyway might as well kill 2 birds with one stone (that's a weird phrase.....I don't want to kill any birds with a stone...)

Kristin, there are some YouTube videos that helped me on this a few months ago.  I try turning my foot in and standing on my ankle before I run.  There is also foam rolling on the outside of the calf.

                  Singer who runs a smidge

HopesMom -  sorry the rash is back.  Could it be stress related?

I don't think it's stress -- I did have a chorus performance on Saturday, but I don't get too nervy about performances.  So basically I slept in Saturday, the ice storm kept me from having to do anything on Sunday, so it was quite the lazy day, and then I "worked" from home yesterday due to the weather.  I'm about as unstressed as it gets right now!  Wink

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

                    Dad on the run.

Hello my penguin friends! What's up with all these animals getting hurt / sick! I had a real scare with my dogs over the weekend as well. I have been giving them Trifexis for 3 months, Sunday would mark 4 months of being on the medication, however, after given it to them we went to church and came home to find copious amounts of vomit inside of Carter's crate and is face was so swollen he could barely open his eyes! We gave him some benedryl and kept a close eye on him not letting him eat or drink anything. He vomitted again after having a bath and drinking just a little of the water :/. Monday morning Brody comes into the bedroom and sitting there having severe muscle spasm! They are both doing much better today but that is the last time I give them that medication, I'm very particular about my dogs and keep a close eye on them both so the Trifexis is the only thing I can think of that would have caused such a bad reaction... Its been raining so much that they haven't been outside alone in a while.

On a brighter note I got outside and managed 1.7 miles of walk/run, itfelt pretty good, legs are pretty stiff but hopefully I'll be back to normal in the next few weeks of running.

Scotty, I hope Peanut's injuries are not that bad.

Gus: Jeesh, you are embarrassing me!  My older DD and her XC friends think that it is pretty cool. They gave me a big shout on their FB page and Instagram and that was really cool.  My younger DD, who is 12, doesn't really care. Haha...

Ginny: Ok, the cat is out of the bag. Yes, my name is Brad. It has always been a bit weird for me to put my real info online; I don't have a FB page or anything else. I have an Instagram but only because my kids put it on my phone.  Jack Klompus is my favorite character from "Seinfeld." It was either Jack Klompus or or Bob Sacamano (Kramer's friend) and Klompus just has a certain ring to it. So, feel free to call me Jack or Brad. Smile

                          Skirt Runner

There was a podiatrist in the same building, and cuz there was a lot of cancellations due to the snow he could squeeze me in. Verdict is NOT good. He said there is a chance it is a peroneal tendon issue....pain is in the right place, but I passed all the tendon tests. It doesn't hurt when he did X Y and Z to my foot only when I put weight on it. He thinks it is a stress fractured cuboid bone Sad  I'm in a soft cast and walking boot. No work for 3 days. No physical activity for....????? Ugh I am SO SAD.

                            Barking Mad To Run

DH got Gore-Tex running shoes yesterday.  And he didn't get you any, StoneFence?  How rude! Joking

Hope Trixie has good results, Damaris!  And hope you have good results with the doctor you are going to meet.

Sorry about the reappearing rash, HsM!  Hope you can figure it out and it calms down.  However, if it does not start getting better, don't make any 'rash' decisions.... go to the doc!    Yeah, Peanut trusts me for some reason, go figure.  Gail tried to clean him first and he wasn't having any of it, lol.   She handed him to me and said "It's YOUR cat, you do it."  Then she got annoyed when I did, lol.  Go figure.

Jack..remember to go down any stairs backwards for a couple of days....otherwise, your quads are gonna let you know about it!   Ok, the cat is out of the bag. Yes, my name is Brad.   Well, I knew that a while back, but I tried not to mention that at all...JACK!  Big grin

60 mile week, wow, Zelanie!  You got my whole monthly mileage done in 1 week, lol.  Congrats!

Actually, Cherie, I didn't know about it at first. He came inside, went to his favorite sleeping place and went to sleep.  It was only after I went to bed I found out.  He jumped up on the bed and I patted him and felt the stiff fur around his neck...what the heck?  That's when I found out.    I guess we're gonna have to start checking him now every time he comes in from outside.  Silly cat.   I am just the way you are, Cherie, I don't go through what LRB, Andrew, Gustav, obiebyke, etc, do with the cold, but BRRRR anyway down here in San Antonio, these temps we have here are cold to me!  I guess a 30-degree drop in temp from day to day will do that to you....60 degrees for two days, then drops to the 30s and low 40s...then back up to 60s again...like this weekend...I have a race Saturday....last Saturday, 29 degrees for my race...this Saturday...65 degrees predicted!  Crazy South Texas weather.    BTW, nice painting you did for Jack!

I should make my run, Dan.  Vet sees Mr. Crazy Cat at 3 pm, so should be done in about an hour....so will still have some sunshine to run in too...It will be around 55 here today at 4 - 5 p.m...nice.   Hope your weather up there is improving too!

Good luck with your race this weekend, Mitch!   And to your grandkids too!

Have some fun on the snow run, Gustav!  Good luck with the 6!  Watch out for plows.

MINUS NINE WINDCHILL!!! Shocked   I hope you have lots of winter running gear to layer yourself with, obiebyke!

Yeah, you don't want to hit that ice, Ginny.  I remember once in Ohio...well...it was embarrassing, to say the least, and lucky I did not get injured.   Stay safe!

Wow, that is so not good about your doggies, Jimmy.  Hope they are doing better now!  Glad you got out for some walk/run time.

Kristin, oh no! Any x ray confirmation for such a thing, or do you just take his word for it and go ahead with the treatment plan? What a bummer.
