Alexander - How did you do in Boston?  I saw it was hot and many people faded (some hard) in the bright sun.  I'm told the TV announcers displayed the usual ignorance by exclaiming that it was a beautiful day for a marathon.

With regard to running on boardwalks, I've found it's a mixed bag.  Seaside Heights has the worst, with the boardwalk right on the sand - not even elevated - and as a result very rough and uneven.  Wildwood has a mix of newer, solid surface and older, bouncier sections, though you can run along the area where the supports are or even on the concrete portion used by the trams.  Asbury Park has replaced part of their wooden boardwalk with a synthetic surface that's stiffer, but also slicker, making for a slower run for that portion.  Ocean City seems to have a decent surface.  For my race, the winds were just as fierce inland, so this time I cannot blame ocean breezes.  My HM PR came at a shore race, but on a day with very little in the way of winds.

My week was mostly easy/recovery runs after last weekend's half.  I had a good ParkRun on Saturday, notching a YTD best on a windy day (my last 3 ParkRuns have been 25:27, 25:27, and 25:26).  35.6 miles for the week.

Nice week, Fred! Recovery or not, you still ran every day and raced on the weekend, that's exactly the kind of thing that makes you a strong runner. Yes, Boston was very warm this year, especially for the later waves, I was in wave 3 with 10:50am start. For the elites starting at 9am I think the weather was 8-10 degrees cooler, so for them it was probably less of a factor.
