Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Going to be a tough week this week (And next also), but planning on pushing to 50 - 55 MPW as my 4 week training cycle wraps up.
Heading on a nice 12+ hr drive Friday night to the Outer Banks with family, DS - 2.5 YO is the wildcard. decided to bite the bullet and drive at night hoping everyone sleeps most of the way. alternative was drive 4 - 5 hrs friday night, hotel and then still drive 8 hrs the next day ... Choose 12 hrs of potentially hell over 24 hrs of potential hell.
Going to be in OBX for the whole week. My step mother was diagnosed with cancer back in Sept (2nd time around) and it was pretty much non curable. options were radiation 5 x week plus chemo with no guarantees that it would buy anytime. So she decided to try to enjoy what she has left and they are managing pain and she is on oxygen most of the time. So I decided to rent one of those big beach houses for the week and we are getting the family together.
So need to jam a weeks worth aof training into basically 4 days as need to rest Friday and sure Saturday I will be pretty wrecked if we make it alive. But I actually feel good for first time since marathon and even PR'd a 5K yesterday in 22:24.
"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it Great!

Light taper week. Feel pretty good about next week's race. A little achiness in my left soleus, especially when I push my pace into the 7:40 +/- per mile range. Goal for next week remains conservative at 8:15 per mile or 3:36:09 +/-.
Thanks Holly.

Holly, I am going to drop off for the next few weeks---just too much going on and the focus of training for now is not to count the mileage---just enjoy the running before the next big ramp up. Everything is great. Thanks for doing all of this!
Tinman wants me to take it easy through the Holidays. So there may be weeks where I do not reach 40 miles - Thanksgiving week probably. So keep the "Free Passes" handy Holly!

Recovery pace of 10:01 min/mile
