Stevie Ray's Scorch The Earth stunt run (Tacoma Marathon) (Read 195 times)

The bald comment was less about my actual view of my receding hairline and more about how my hair looks weird in the picture. I can see a lot more cranium than usual. Some is due to actual thinning hair and some is due to just-removed-hat hair. In any case, it was simply an off the cuff observation. I look a lot more like my dad when he was 35 (I am 42 for another month) than I was ready for, though. As for Scorch the Earth, it had some training value, but mostly it was just a goofy thing to do. I bet many of you could do this if you wanted to. Some of you would catch more pace groups than I caught! (I missed 3:30, 3:20, and 3:10 for a complete set). I had fun. Thanks for the comments.

Fun stuff. When you run as many marathons as you do, I can see why you'd start thinking of new ways to do it. As for many of us being able to do it... well... not so sure about that, but definitely something to think about!

The Tacoma paper got a pretty cool picture of me coming into the finish (the clock says 3:34, but remember, I started at the very very back): http://www.thenewstribune.com/static/photo/#id=album-45919&num=915164 And here's a shot of "The Valley of Death". I ran with Gumbee - a poster from the regular board on this site - for a bit through here. As I pulled away, he told me that the blossoms matched my shirt . You can see why. http://www.thenewstribune.com/static/photo/#id=album-45919&num=915169 Hilly race.

Most Excellent, Eugenio! Very cool idea, I want to copy it sometime. Love the photos, too. grins, A
