Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Ok....here we go.
Note to self.......Nothing harder than MP dummy !
Thanks Holly - this is my redemption week and a mini-taper. Philly Distance Run [1/2] on Sunday followed by a 1:00 Eagles Game. After my mental and physical blow-up in NYC in the Aug heat I am looking forward to an expected "high 50's" at the start. Once again, I am targeting the sub - 1:35 half ... I just need to keep my head screwed on tight ... had a 1:38 in the Spring and I am better trained and faster today than I was then ...
m - off
Tues - 7.5 miles [track work]
Wed - 5.5 miles
Thurs - 4.5 miles [w/ 6 x run hard to this tree or that]
Friday - 4.73 miles easy
Sat - off [maybe a little jog to stay fresh]
Sunday - 15 miles [1:33:37 -- Philly 1/2 -- 5 minute PR -- perfect day -- still on a high]
Total - 37.23 miles total
2012= under-goaled

Recovery week for me so I'll need a pass. No running for me until Wednesday at the earliest.
Slimbo, good luck at the PDR.
MTA: Race report is up for anyone interested.
21.1 miles this week. Soreness is gone but legs are still a bit heavy.
Not at it at all.

Might need to make that two passes as legs are pretty beat up after sunday.

"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it Great!
Thanks Holly.

Holly, I actually had 49 miles last week. I finger checked when I entered the total amount.
Bill
Recovery pace of 10:16
Tinman wanted 6 miles with 10 x 10 secs. @ 3K - 5K, 50 secs jog recovery
but I had an early cross country flight home, so a Rest Day (sorta)
15 miles with 12 x 3.5 minutes at HMP (8:01), 1.5 mins jog. recovery.
I was slow at start, ended up at HMP near the end. Tough one. Tired.
19 miles
Tinman wanted 19 miles easy (no fast running) and that's what he got.
The avg HR per mile stayed in the 140s the whole way. Max HR for
the whole run was only 152, so very consistent. 9:41 pace.
Nice and easy in Gainesville. 9:51 pace.
A good week.
"Some are the strong, silent type. You can't put your finger on exactly what it is they bring to the table until you run without them and then you realize that their steadiness fills a hole that leaks energy in their absence." - Kristin Armstrong
Holly: Thanks for all you do. I have been extremely busy and simply haven't had the opportunity to post over the past week and a half. We had a huge Labor Day Party at the house, and then our running group put on our first ever Labor Day 5K which was a huge success (273 runners and 80 walkers)! Then this past week end my first chief passed away and I have been involved with the funeral services as a pallbearer. I'll try to do better this week!
PS - you were pretty accurate with my total two weeks ago, it was 49.3 miles and this past week was 67.7 but I never even got to post my chart.
Oh yeah, I've decided not to run the Maine Marathon and will be running the half marathon instead since I have a Marathon Relay at MDI on October 18 and then the NY Marathon on Nov. 1.
And finally my Garmin is on the fritz again, I've sent it pack for repairs and hope it will be back for my half marathon.
Here is this weeks plan:
Rest Day
Recovery
6 Miles
6.2 Miles
46:04 - 7:26 - As noted previously my Garmin 305 is on the fritz, so now I'm using the old 201 or nothing at all.
5 Miles
5.25 Miles
9 Miles
10.12 Miles
6.25 Miles
51:05 - 8:11

Thanks Holly. Nothing like posting the plan on the last day.. but this is what I was following this week.
