    Hi everyone,

Marj posted an interesting article about racewalking yesterday. For the edification and enjoyment of those who are looking for something different to read with their morning coffee, here are some more articles about racewalking in the 2016 Olympics. (Language and visuals warning.)

I just read the first article about the 50km Olympic racewalking event - wow!  I had no idea racewalking could be so brutal!  Although I do know that when I did about 29 miles of my friend's 100-miler at a brisk walk, I was sore in places I never had been, and could barely get up from the air mattress from a squatting to standing position to go to the restroom that night.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Chiming in because I flirt every now and then with converting to race walking. I get more sore speed walking than running. Especially my hips and shins.

Also those race walkers are freaking Fast.

coastwalker I care. But mostly because I have a friend named Jay who race walks. Same I fear for many sports I care about. Baseball? I do not know anyone that plays. Football? Same. In my head that puts race running and race walking pretty much on top of the list. Okay, I know a race car driver and love cars too. So there is that.

After watching the final 8Ks of  the women's 20K Olympic racewalk, I think more people would if they knew about it.  Amazing, also heartbreaking as you can be so easily disqualified.
