Been above normal temps here (windy too) and the snow is shrinking. Looks like we're in a warmer than normal pattern for a week or so.  Hard to complain when the temps are in the 40's in February!

5 miles with TE yesterday and strength trained at the gym with my youngest DD in the evening.

Will hit the trails later today.

qotd: Mac or pc?  iPhone or Android?  DW has been teaching for 25-ish years and they always used Mac's at school, so that's what we've always went with.  Had pc's at my office (when I was working!!!! )- preferred the Mac at home.  iPhones too- integrate with the Mac much better and no complaints on the phone itself.

    few more pics

qotd: my work phone is an iphone, my work laptop is windows based.  I don't have any other phones but my home laptop uses ubuntu for it's operating system.  I'm not a microsoft fan but since it's work I have to.  When I get another laptop I'd like the macbook pro but those are pricey little gadgets.  When I have to get my own phone I'll probably go with an android as I'll not pay $1,000+ for a freaking iphone.

The one I have for work has had all sorts of issues primarily due to the carrier we use, AT&T.  Out here I have all sorts of dropped calls, dead spots and crappy reception.  I think US Cellular will be better in the rural area I live in.

        That cabin picture is beautiful.

When I came home yesterday, Crescent City (about a 1.5 hrs north of us), Arcata, and McKinleyville were all in the low to mid 70s.   Eureka was in the mid-60s.  SoCal is supposed to be in the low 80's for the Super Bowl.  Crazy weather.

Had as good of a visit with my friend as one can have when someone is dying of brain cancer.  It's just heartbreaking.  And the family dynamics between her husband vs her sister and parents -   My hope and prayer is that they can some how, some way put their differences aside and focus on what's best for Kate.  Once she's gone, they can go back to disliking each other.

I got in a 4-mile trail run Monday after I left Kate's house at Fort Clatsop outside Astoria, OR.  Wish I could've run longer, but I had to get back to Portland.  Tuesday managed of a little over 6 miles of walking, between a 2+ mile walk from downtown Portland to my friend Karen's daughter's apartment, and then Karen and I met up with another friend for a 4-mile hike in Forest Park in the late afternoon.  That was fun.  I've made a few friends in the Portland running community and I only get to see them once or twice a year.

Yesterday's drive home felt a lot longer than 8 hrs.  Ended up taking 9 hrs to get home because I had to stop a few times to get out and walk around and wake up.

I got in 4 uninspired predawn miles this morning.

QOTD: I've only ever used PCs.  My phone is an Android through Tracfone.  Like duff, I refused to spend $$$$ on a phone.  Irritates my friend, Karen, to no end as she's all about the latest and greatest in technology and believes Android phones are inferior to iPhones, but I don't care.  It does what I need it to, which isn't a whole lot.  A lot of people live and die by their phones.  I don't.  Heck, we still have a landline and most likely always will.  A number of years back, a then neighbor fell and hit her head really hard on their cement garage floor and went into seizures.  Her partner called 911 and was trying to tell them their address, etc., while taking care of her.  If he had been on a landline, 911 would've been able to pinpoint their location.

          Today's a SRD.  I'll do a light 2 or 3 miles tomorrow.

          Nice 'more pics' mt.

qotd: I use a Win/PC at work and we have a Win/PC for home.  We also have an iPad that my DW uses alot, we all have iPhones (for some reason my kiddos are still on my phone plan      ).

4 miles last night with Baker up at the local trail. Not much of a run better then zippo. Warm today (well 50's in Feb is warm) but windy. Probably head out CW late afternoon for a few miles as those trails seemed less "mushy" then out at the lake.

QOTD: Android and Windows PC. Android has enough features for me and is much cheaper than an iPhone. I am about due for a new one but am holding off as long as possible. Work servers are most all windows based so simpler to use that at home/work.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

Where I'm sitting it is sunny and 65F. Looking at my cameras at home it is snowing, 15F and they are under a weather advisory. Happy to be here.

Anyhow, we are at a new park for us, other than a day trip one time. Great beach for running so I went for a 6 mile run this morning one way and I'm thinking I'll go out in the evening for a short run the other way. So I've been watching whales and dolphins and other things like some wild hogs but today was a first as we're kinda close to a naval base so while running along a navy patrol boat came along pushing the sport boats out and away and then I look back and I see it's escorting a submarine in. Don't see much of that in Wi. either.

QOTD--Apple stuff for the most part. I do use a chromebook though for most of my time wasting. I do like my Iphone 13.   Gave up our land line years ago as anybody we wanted to talk to knew our cells. Paying a lot of money just to receive phone solicitations.

Adding-Sandy, our daughter and her hubby are on our plan too after all these years. Go figure.

Yeah, my SIL wants in on the action too. . . . so . . . . .  we'll have them on our phone plan and they supply Netflix and Spotify.

While I'm doing the 50 mi on Saturday, my DD is doing the 50k with her friend who's never run further than a 10k road run before. Here's their recent exchange two days before the big run. . .

Got in 6 miles along the creek (paved trail) this morning. I ran with two other friends. Beautiful stretch of weather currently.

qotd: PC for laptop, iphone plus a landline (because it's bundled w internet, but I need to switch our landline to VOIP to drop the bill).  I'm a huge fan of refurbished iphones Dhuff and Fatozzig. And discount service. We just switched to Visible (3rd party Verizon) and I am very happy. Right now it's $35/mo ( taxes/fees included) and it'll drop more when I get the other kiddo on board.

Intervals yesterday, 40 minute easy run today.

I'm echoing what Fatozzig said about the weather... it's waaaay too early in the year for Diablo winds and temps in the 70s.  My poor yard.  And my water bill is going to be sky high.

Warden, that trip to the cabin looks amazing!

Harrier, a sub is not something you see every day in most places, even by the ocean.  I guess that's the point of having subs?

Sandy, have a great race this weekend!  Laughing at the texts... "bread shots"?  Haha.  The first time I tried a Gel, it was a double espresso or something like that.  It was during a HM, and I thought I was having a heart attack, my heart was beating so fast.  So maybe advise wife's friend to avoid the espresso ones.

QOTD: Apple all the way in this house.  Dinosaur PCs at work.  After all, it is the government.
