It's not too late... (Read 713 times)

How is Krissy getting all these folks to show up for that kind of a course? With generally shitty weather?

(my joke answer involves 'amazing weed', but I don't really believe that.)

I think it's because they heard you would be there.

I think it's a few other things that draw them though too:

    1. Other fast runners. I imagine fast folks like strong competition.

    2. Prize money. Not many races offer that.

    3. They are friends with Krissy.

    4. The name?

First place is 600 bucks, with a 200 bonus from Udo if you break a record.

I'd love 600, but factoring in airfare (I'm assuming these folks are sharing rides and sleep on Krissy's mom's floor), that's a lot of interest from people who are going to net maybe 200-300 bucks.  If they win.  3rd place is a benjamin.

#1 and  #3 make a ton of sense too.  And perhaps #3 is what attracted all the names last year (something had to attract the first few).

I don't think it is bad... I think it is very very cool.  Just one of those neat 'tipping point' examples perhaps.

      And maybe amazing weed.

      Not really.

I'm scared I'm going to spill Jen Shelton's bottle and she'll cut me.

          Well that was big fun.

Ellie for the win and the lady course record, 4:09.  At Aid station #2 (10.4m), she was in second, but not by much.  She was 22nd overall.

For the boys, Adam Campbell won, 3:48.  Your boy Sage was right behind at 3:49.  Mr Mackay was 7th.  Hal was 16th.  Max King was 36th.

I smell like EAS.  Not "Emergency Alert System".  The sportsdrink.

The mighty Jenn Shelton showed up at AS#2 in her sports bra and boy shorts acting loopy (even for her)... and promptly dropped.  Smalcolm put her in a jacket, which she wore for about 30 seconds.  I guess she got off our little hill quickly.

The weather was super nasty.  Or, by Chuckanut standards, normal.

It was an honor to work for Smalcolm and do a little giving back.

          Top 47 here. Squint.

            Sage Canaday's upcoming schedule:

5/20: Portland Rock n’ Roll half marathon (not sure how my speed will be)

6/16: Mt. Washington Road Race (all uphill, it’s going to be a blast!)

7/28: White River 50 (my first 50-miler = will be interesting)

9/29: UROC 100k (Ultra Race of Champions, it should be a loaded field).

            Should be fun to follow.
