Busy Tuesday (dailies) (Read 19 times)

Kilmisters

Hi, ladies! I've missed you all, but had very limited time and/or energy to post here. It's been all work (workdays) and floorball (weekends). Lots of new tasks in former and insane drama in latter (so far there have been 2 extra-times, and the game that didn't go to extra-time was started, postponed, then started again from zero, because turned out referee was slightly intoxicated (!!) and we had to wait for new ref, assigned by federation, to arrive). If managing minis was usually most energy-demanding part of my routine, now it's the easiest Big grin

Anyway, I ran work->home (10k) yesterday, woo! Training for MI starts in 1.5weeks and I am both excited and slightly scared!!

    Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

''What will happen if I run up the hills? Ah, volcano muscle soreness!!'' (c) Margaret

''Who needs quads anyway!?'' (c) Damaris

Woot Elina!! In the midst of any of those things just remember to take a deep breath (at least internally think of it as a deep breath) sort of look around you and truly be in the moment. Savor it, cherish it. Notice something that stands out... maybe the way dh's hair is tossled from you or the kids' hands, maybe the saying on someone in the stand's hat, maybe a doodle a coworker drew, maybe the way your little's cheeks crinkle when the smile, maybe just the quiet if out on a run. Breath it in and know that life is quirky, funny and really, really good! Then get back to the business.  But you'll know that you basically stopped time just for a mili-second and noticed something special.

Lizzie-I still can't get over how you got the bridesmaids to randomly agree on same style. Would have been awkward if all but one liked it. LOL What is the color scheme for their dresses? A solid I assume but I can't remember if jewel tone or pastel.

Sue-Woohoo on the baby arrival! So exciting about that and the house! Lots going on!!

      Damaris-nice hilly run for you!

Queen Margaret-sorry about the crown... shouldn't have gone up the hill with Jack I guess.

Sandy-I picked MSU to win overall by using the Washington Post bracket picks... Will likely win that bracket! Woot! My bracket that was based on places I would prefer to run.... last place in that group. LOL Sort of like how I finish when I pick the pretty places to run too so no biggie.

Cathy-You'll be ready for Glass City no matter what! Glad DD is feeling well after the surgery!

Judy-not too many using cursive anymore!

Karen-that app sounds great although I don't know about always mixing up the classes so much but I get wanting to figure out what style you like. Enjoy watching your dh have fun with the grout cleaner. Sounds entertaining!

Tessa-I'm sure you will hit your goal! I will have to check out this marathon investigation thing.

HCK2-bummer on the sleeping badly. I slept like crap Saturday nights... legs kept twitching. dumb.

Heading out for a few miles this morning. Going to a Red Wings game tonight with my guy. A friend of his is taking us. DD from Miami is in town too this week so that's fun! Have a great day ladies!

          9.2 for me!

Good run! Did not feel like running this morning..ended up awesome besides my STOMACH AGAIN. UGH. WTH. This is getting old. Thinking about doing my LR on Thursday. We have so much going on Thursday night and Friday..I don't want to be stressing about it. We will see how the week goes.

Lisa - Plum is the dress color. I can't believe they all agreed either! They are ALL different body types!

Karen - Okay, does it make us old that we are excited about grout cleaner??

Quick fly by..I have to get on the road! Hopefully I can catch up later!

          October 4 - Milwaukee, WI - 26.2

          November 14 - Richmond, VA - 26.2

          March 21 - Virginia Beach, VA - 26.2

Howdy! Slept in. We got home late last night--went to pick up a piece of furniture and delivered it to the new house.

Think happy positive thoughts for baby Cameron.  He is not nursing enough to keep his weight up. Apparently this is not uncommon w preemies, but still kinda scary.  DS1 and DIL were hoping to feed every two hours last night.  I know they are exhausted.

            Retirement seminar this morning.  Woohoo

Great run Lizzie and Elina! Lisa--game sounds like fun. Enjoy

            Gotta go!

Tessa, it's neat to be able to tell if someone is lying by their handwriting.

Sue, DS was a preemie..He didn't want to eat, he just wanted to sleep. When his bilirubin level dropped to a normal level, he was ravenous.

Sore from the shots but did 50 minutes running on the TM with 10 minutes of fast walking. Tylenol helps a lot.

              Happy runs, All !

              Where is the "any" key?

I did a similar workout to the one I gave Damaris today. 4x800 followed by 4x400. My 800s were pretty good, 400s all over the map and too fast. But it all felt pretty good. Ended up 6.6 miles. Kettlebells probably later. And grout cleaning. DH went into the office today so I agreed to give it a try.....I'm sure it won't look as good as the section he did though, and I'll need him to show me again. With another large section of floor.

Elina, good to see you! Deep breaths girl. You definitely have a full and busy schedule right now!

Lisa, Red Wings game sounds fun. And Miami DD in town sounds like even more fun.

Damaris, hope you find someplace flat to run tonight. I thought the 800s followed by 400s was kinda fun.

Liz, yay for a good run except for the stomach issues. When I tell my baby runners to try different options for fueling well before the race to make sure they can tolerate it, I'm usually thinking of you as an example in my head. We are thinking about taking the van on the road this weekend, so I'm trying to decide if I should do my 20 on Friday or push it to Monday. Or just do it Sunday once we get back. Or we may not go at all if the weather sucks.

Susan, definitely thinking positive for Cameron. Poor DS1 and wife, I bet they are physically and mentally wiped out.

Judy, nice TM run this morning. I bet the handwriting class is interesting.

Susan, DD weighed 5 lbs 7 ounces at birth and was just under 5 lbs when she came home from the hospital. It took her a couple of days to figure out this nursing thing -- she was used to having it on tap via the umbilical cord, and she was quite annoyed at having to work for her nourishment. I'm guessing Cameron will get the hang of it soon enough. How preemie was he?

Elina, the ref was inebriated? How could they tell?  Sorry about the floorball dramas.

Lisa, picking the bracket based on where you would like to run? Why not? Makes more sense than some of the ways people pick them.

And marathoninvestigation.com is hilarious. The guy started out tagging people who cheated their way into Boston, then got to looking at other races. Read about Patty Pan, who picked up somebody else's bib for several Disney races (without permission of the rightful bib owner who had every intention of running the race), ran in them, got caught at the 10K and hauled out of the finish area in handcuffs. And when the officers of the law escorted her off Disney property, having been told that she would never be allowed in a Disney race again, they found her car parked in a handicapped spot with somebody else's placard on it. Honestly. If you were going to run a 5K, 10K, and half marathon, you'd think you could walk from a regular spot rather than illegally parking in a handicapped space!

Judy, good point on the bilirubin levels. And right now there isn't much sunlight in a lot of the country so stripping the baby and putting him in the sun on the floor is not really an option. (Had to do that with DS, but he was born in August. Finding sunshine in California at that time of year is not hard. Nor is keeping the baby warm.)

Damaris, good luck with the 8 with intervals. TM or outside?

Liz, sorry about the stomach issues. Yay that they all agreed on the dress style!

Karen, I would definitely count grout cleaning as cross training. Thanks for the link. And for the mention of Simple Green, I might try that. I believe we have some. Hope you do get to take the van on the road this weekend!

3.8 with RN this morning. We saw a coyote crossing the street, Millie wanted to go after it and was told firmly "no NO" -- coyotes can take on dogs easily and the dog has never had to fight for its food, the coyote has spent its life chasing down its dinner. Also saw a couple of cotton tails disappearing into the underbrush and she wanted very badly to chase those. Someday she will get a rabbit and she won't know what to do with it.

I'm probably just going to do them on the TM.  I'm still coughing and sneezing the pollen that I found outside and my ass hurts from the hills, lol.

                    Running with the Turtles

Happy Tuesday!  A little over 9 miles this morning on the TM, strides and 8x4 minutes at 10K pace with 1:30 min recoveries.  The recoveries went too fast.    I have to say that 1/2 mile repeats are much more fun than 1 mile repeats.  Especially with this training plan since they are all run at 10K pace!    Took DD to the orthodontist yesterday for the next step in the process, they tied the ends of the chains (the other end of the chains are attached to brackets on her teeth that are above her gum line) to some string and tied them tightly to her braces.  She was crying.  One of the strings was really digging into her gums last night.  She took some Tylenol.  They warned that the pain would be worse this morning and that she may not want to go to school, but she refused any meds and went to school as usual.  I would be crying.

Hi Elina!  I'm glad that you are surviving.  The referee was intoxicated?

Lisa, good advice for Elina!  Have fun at the Red Wings game and with DD!

Damaris, enjoy the training and the workout!

Lizzie, nice 9!  My stomach was not liking my workout this morning but at least it waited until I was done to act up.     Sounds like a good idea to switch your long run around!  Haha, yes, the doctor told me that the skin on my back looked nice.  Well, actually the nurse practitioner, because I don't rate the actual doctor.    I thanked her.    I had an appt with the therapist today, she gave me an assignment which I thought might be helpful to you.  She said to set aside a time every day, maybe 15 minutes, where you can worry.  So it is scheduled worry time!  It is supposed to help relieve some stress/anxiety, since your subconscious will force you to worry if you don't do it.

Sue, thinking positive thoughts about Cameron!  Poor guy.

Tessa, yes, DH said I could go anywhere for a race!  I was thinking end of the year or early spring.  When the weather really sucks here.  CIM sounds interesting, though I haven't done two marathons so close together before.I really enjoy the Marathon Investigation website.  It fascinates me the length that people will go to in order to cheat and then try to cover up for it!

Karen, I am laughing about your DH and the floor cleaning.  I will have to try Simple Green on our tile!  It will be interesting to see how the dog training goes!  DD has been training my friends' dogs to not run outside in the backyard until she gives them the go-ahead.  They are doing really well.  It is cute.    I have not read the Alice Network yet.  It is still on my list!  I have a big list.

Sandy, I remember a day in March when it was 80 and we got the little plastic pool out for the kids!  Cool that you enjoyed the yoga sculpt!

Judy, my DD also had the bilirubin issue.  She had to go back to the hospital and sit under the lamp for a few days!

                      Cathy

Tessa--Cameron was 5lbs 5oz at birth and was about 3 weeks premature, so not too early thank goodness.

Karen--what are you using to clean grout?

It just amazes me what people will do to cheat!

                        Seloc

OMG what a nutty day!  Good thing I went to yoga sculpt – I like to think it reduced some my stress.  Ha!

Karen – SO GLAD you are feeling better.  And back crushing runs already.  That’s great on the tile cleaner.  Especially great that DH is willing to do the cleaning!  Sounds perfect to send the boys to “camp” while you are on vacation.  Sounds like a very reasonable price for two weeks of training!

Tessa – nice double yesterday!  Funny you mention that hot yoga is popular since it’s cold here because I was thinking this morning wondering if I will like it in the summer.  I have a hard enough time now getting ready to rush to work while trying to stop sweating.

HCK – way to get the miles in on little sleep!!

Elina – drunk referee??  Wut?!!  Keep on keepin’ on, girl!!

Lisa – LOL on picking the bball winners based on places you like to run.  Hey, anything works!  I’m definitely cheering on Mich St from here on out.  Have fun at the game!!

Damaris – oof, that sounds like quite the workout tonight!  Sorry it’ll be on the ‘mill but you’re good like that.  Hope you at least get to step outside a few times to take advantage of not bursting into flames.

Lizzie – ugh on the stomach woes.  Have you tried eating dinner earlier and then maybe having a snack before heading out in the morning?  I only say the snack because you often say you wake up hungry.  I suggest moving dinner up so you can “empty out” before leaving the house.  Just suggestions based on what works for me.  But, I don’t need the morning snack – I have fat stores to pull from.  Ha!  Hope you ahd a good travel day!

Sue – I somehow missed you yesterday!  Congrats on the new grandbaby.  Sending good thoughts to baby Cameron.  Such a cute name.

Judy – so what indicates a liar in someone’s handwriting?  Or is it too complex to explain?  Hope your arm feels better!

Cathy – killer workout!  OMG, poor DD!  That sounds just awful and so incredibly painful.  She’s one tough cookie.  Interesting about the scheduled worry time.  Maybe I should schedule a “negative thoughts” time to get them all out and then just try to think positively otherwise.

One more call and then I have to meet some people at my sister’s condo.  They are giving her an estimate on carpet and paint.  Since I work close by, I’m letting them in.  I told her I was just going to go there and drink her beer haha.  Later, kids…

Susan, look towards the end of Monday's thread. I linked it on Amazon. The stuff is amazing. DH put a longer handle on the brush that came with it. You literally squirt it on the grout, wait 10 minutes, scrub it a little with the brush, then mop with clean water. He was trying to figure out what it was made of because it was expensive. Some googling made him think it's mostly a degreaser, which he has in the garage (Simple Green). He tried that on one section and it did almost as good as the expensive stuff.

Docket – Good luck on that run. EW.

Susan – Thinking positive thoughts about baby Cameron!!

Judy – Nice run today! I want to know more about this handwriting/liar trick! Wish I had known that when I was working with MAMMEL!

Karen – Nice run today!! Uhm, have fun with the grout cleaning? I always want to do the LR earlier just to get it done and out of the way. That way I am not stressing over it!

Tessa – Nice run this morning..coyote?! I would be scared! What do they usually tell runners to do if you come in contact with one? Make lots of noise?

Cathy – OMG, your run! Nice job!! Why on the treadmill?! Your DD is so tough!! I would be crying for sure and need some PAIN MEDS. Hmm..I am going to try that assignment. That seems hard. I guess you kinda have to get yourself into a quiet place and set the timer and let your mind have a field day! Interesting. I am going to give it a try. Thanks! 😊 Ugh, I still haven’t called the lady I was supposed to call to set up my apt. Things have just been crazy with the new job. No excuses. I need to call! What Spring marathon have you been looking into or wanting to do? I was looking to travel for a Spring one in 2020, too.

Sandy – LOL, have fun drinking your sisters beer! HAHA. Does she rent it out? This is the same sister with the lake house, right? So, funny, I was thinking about pushing my dinner to an earlier time. I like to eat late because then I don’t wake up as hungry. BUT..maybe eating later is causing some of this GI stress. I am going to try it 😊 Starting tonight – hehe. I also like your negative thoughts time idea. I need to do that too.

Kilmisters - Hang in there, girl! The training will be nice..it will be lots of time to get some stress relief!

BUSY day. But..I LOVE IT. My brain is exhausted. I am logging off! Have a great evening!

Liz, this runner shoos the coyote loudly and firmly if she sees one. Especially if I'm alone. I know the neighbors have called the sheriff at least once to report a woman shouting and then it turned out to be me telling a coyote to scat. (The coyote in that instance was running along keeping pace with me and I did not want it to get any ideas that I might be prey.) In this case there were two adult women and Millie, whose ancestry is uncertain but the best guess so far is half boxer and half pit bull and who weighs close to 50 pounds, she's muscular but not fat, and the coyote turned tail and ran.

Yes they have to live but they do not have to live on my property!

Cathy, so sorry for DD. Poor thing. Anywhere? Hmm. You do know Honolulu is in December? Or there are some nice races in Susan's area in January. Operation Jack is right after Christmas in Los Angeles, along the beach, but a) it's a boring course, an out and back for the half and repeat on the same route for the full, and b) it's a fund raiser for autism research, which is good, but Jack's parent/race director is convinced that Jack's autism was caused by vaccines. I just can't get behind supporting that long-disproved rubbish.

Buzz in February, just north of Paso Robles, would make an excellent girls' weekend race. San Luis Obispo is the end of April and that's a good one too. Calico in January is a bit too hard core trail, I think. Diamond Valley Lake is the first Saturday in March and it is beautiful and not well known. Fire roads mostly, no single track, 3 asphalt topped dams and a bit of asphalt road.

Sandy, I hope you left your sister at least one beer!

4.31 on the TM at the gym. Go me!

Oh ouch. Casual attire at the office just went too far. Guy sitting near me has on slacks and an untucked shirt. No belt. He just leaned forward in his chair to do something on the computer. We are an insurance brokerage, not a plumbing contractor....and I can't unsee that hairy butt and yawning crack. Owww.
