7.1 for me! Body pump after work today.

Awesome run with some awesome temps again. In the 60's with dewpoints in low 50's. Still a little humid but I will take it! Still not liking the early wake up calls! I was up late watching the Caps game though. GO CAPPPPSSSS!!!! Incredible game.

I dont know how I managed a bad hair day on a day with low humidity! It annoyed me this morning.  If that is the only thing that is annoys me today, then today is a good day. LOL.

Bought my tickets for Twin Cities yesterday. WOOT WOOT. Exciting!!! I need to finalize things for next year,..

Lisa – Wow, you have a lot of races coming up! Holy cow! I have been trying to up my weights in body pump. Its hard! Funny about the coffee!

Carol – I have been loving running for fun, too! Smile Maybe you will see some bears this weekend!

Ginny – YAY for the run yesterday! Always good to hear from you!

Kilmisters – WTH on the weather!!! That is crazy!

We have a big audit today. Luckily I dont have to escort those people around. I still have lots of emails to get through! Have a good day everyone!

DHuffman63, I am so sorry about the loss of your dog. They are missed greatly when they are gone.

        :::HUGS:::

Lizzie, the toe doesn’t hurt at all when I run. Any problem is to the skin on top of the toe. Any discomfort is really from what the shoe touches. In the mornings, it is fine. Once it swells some as the day wears on, then it gets irritated and doesn’t even want a light sock on it. Sandals solve that problem very well.

Monday was a 40 minute cardio dvd. I wanted to spare the toe since it was a little tender on top from wearing the older pair of running shoes. I can do the dvd barefoot. In fact, it’s been a good thing to try because the sense of balance is definitely different.

This is a great morning to go out. I’ll be off soon.

        Happy runs, All!

        Where is the "any" key?

        Former Bad Ass

Morning!  I have Pilates and a run. Maybe weights.  We hit 102F yesterday and 100F Sunday.  So, yay, our hot weather has finally started. -_-

          Elina, nice weather today.

          Liz, nice run.

          Judy, enjoy the outdoors.

          Damaris

Workout fail.  It was raining and stormy so I rolled over. Smile

            Work = ugh. It's complicated.

I'd rather curl up with a cup of coffee and knitting.

Elina--Quick! Grab your running clothes and get outside!!

Judy--glad the toe is doing better.

"Apple bottom jeans, boots with fur,..." that song x2 in HIIT class = it will be in my head alllllllllll day.  And those are the only words I know!

HIIT class this morning and it wasn't 82* in there so that's a win.  Full body shenanigans and my shoulders are about to fall off.  Track last night.  Ran the long jump again.  And again the dodgy gramma helped measure.  She was much more pleasant last night which was nice.  And that's a wrap for the season.  Now looking into doing some volunteering at the library.

It is far FAR too nice out to be at work but here I am.  Might have to take a few walks outside.  Been craving watermelon so might even hike it to the grocery - it's over a mile.

For you readers - "Try Not to Breath" by Holly Sedden - EXCELLENT!!

              Will be back for personals...

Lisa – awwww gotta love karma!

Ginny – congrats on getting back out there!  Yay!

Carol – EEKS on mama bear and her cub.  Sure hope they find a new nesting spot before the weekend.

HCK – LOL on mind blown that there is a Mrs. Mammel.  I kinda felt the same!

Lizzie – okay, good point.  I am NOT officially training for anything.  So I won’t worry about mileage too much.  This weight stuff has been wiping me out!  I would like to keep the long run to double digits but we shall see.  I wanna keep up with the cool kids!  I think week 1 of marathon training starts at 8mi so all good.  Oh Mammel.  Of COURSE it’s all about him.  He’s a puke.  Yay Caps!!

Karen – awwww, that’s the best sleep when the animal curls up at your feet.  Nice 10 miles in that SOUP.  Ugh.  I would have crumbled.  Any progress on the sponsorship stuff?

Kat – glad you got the info you wanted and the response, too!

Tessa – what’s next on your calendar?

Elina – your weather sounds like MN!  Glad you had a calm day yesterday – hoping for more of the same today.  As for guy – I suspect he is intimated by you and wants your respect.  Not that you don’t – just that he was feeling insecure.  Men.  Eye.  Roll.

Damaris – noooooooooo on those temps!  Yuck!

Sue – I’d rather go to the beach!  Haha

Does anyone watch the Bachelorette?  Yes, true trash tv.  But she is from MN so it was cool I caught some of it last week and they showed some sights around town.  I forgot it was on last night – was too wrapped up in my book.  Is the day over, yet?  I do hate wishing my life away but…  Have a good one!!

Thank you all for your kindness.  It's so hard to lose them but it was the right thing to do as his quality of life was so poor and I'd rather suffer the loss than have for my loving friend go through it.

                  Elina that's some temp change.

Lizzie lately all my hair days have been bad so I'm getting it cut tonight after work.  Glad you are enjoying the "fun" runs.

Lisa wow another marathon?  I've heard good things about Mohican.

I've got Cory Reese's new book "Into the Furnace" about Badwater and damn it all if that's not sounding interesting.  135 miles across Death Valley in July.  His book "Nowhere Near First" is what got me interested in ultras and has me wanting to do a 100 miler someday.

Judy the yoga class of course is barefoot and I'm finding it extremely helpful with balance.  I do walk around the house barefoot but this has me doing poses that are on one leg.

Ginny nice run!  Glad you are feeling better.  Back pain is not fun at all.

Sorry Damaris that summer has arrived.  I keep stressing about my 50k on the 23rd and how best to handle the heat.

Sue hope work improves for you.  I'm renting a car for when I visit the first week of July...will you be around?  Maybe we can meet up one day.  I'll get in on the 30th of June and leave on the 7th.

Sandy I don't think I know that song.  I had Tom Petty's Learning to Fly stuck in my head at Heartland.  Could have been worse.

I'm trying to finish up the insurance audit so we can start on the fixed asset audit.  That will be a nightmare as they are scattered all over the country.

                  Kilmisters

Lizzie, great game by Caps Smile Hoping the hair issue remains the biggest issue of today! Good luck w audit? Does mammel usually participate in those?

Damaris, I cannot imagine how you can get out of the house in such temps. And I don't mean running, but getting out there in general.

Sandy, apple bottom jeans? Totally random. Carrying watermelon from a store that is mile away sounds like a workout.

Diane, fixed assets all over the country? Does it mean lots of travel or someone else will do it and you'll just crunch the numbers?

It's a stupid thing to say, but w our ''Ms Moodswings x10000'' boss on vacation it's incredibly calm in the office. Sometimes her mere presence, even behind a glass wall, can create tension. Oh well. Still lots to do, so might as well use this atmosphere while it lasts (this week). Running 10k work-home today, w a plan to stock up a bit of junk food first Big grin

                    Running with the Turtles

31 min fartlek this morning, windy and 50.  Woot.     Though my HR monitor seems to have died, which is a bummer.  I need my data!    I have tomorrow off, going to chaperone younger DD's field trip to Madison to visit the state capitol and historical museum.

Elina, we get the temperature swing in a day!    The weather has been rather random lately.

Lizzie, nice run!  We watched the first part of the Caps game, they looked strong!  It was the first pro hockey game that DD watched, she was very interested.  Her intramural team was just in the championship match for floor hockey, they lost though.  My foot gets sore sometimes but it isn't bad and it resolves by the end of the day.  It's generally fine when running.  Hmmm, May vs fall wedding?  It may depend on where you want to have your reception.  A lot of places book early, since there are a limited number of weekends.  I planned my wedding in about 6 months.  I don't necessarily recommend that though.    But you have to at least figure out when the race weekend will be, so I can figure out my training schedule.

                      Damaris, enjoy the hot weather.

Sandy, FloRida, eh?  Now I will have that song in my head all day.  Sounds like a good workout!  I will add that book to my list!  I picked up Kathrine Switzer's book from the library but I have to finish the latest from Elizabeth George.  It's a big one.     I can say that I have never watched the Bachelorette or the Bachelor.    I wouldn't worry too much about the shortened run, even if you were just wimping out.    If you aren't feeling it, you aren't feeling it.  I don't think you have to put pressure on yourself right now!

Diane, sorry about your doggie.  The Lydiard plan I am following advises against taking carbs in while training.  Not a huge change for me, since I run first thing in the morning and don't normally take in a lot of fuel on the run anyway.  I always snack at work however.

Lisa, haha, your cup definitely runneth over!    Nice that you can fit Mohican in!

Ginny, glad you had a great run!

Carol, the foot has held up pretty well so far!  Still some soreness occasionally, but rolling helps and it is fine by morning.  I am sure you will be fine on the test hike!

Kat, glad you got the good news about work!

                      Cathy

                      dhuffman63

                      Trails

Elina there was travel the last time they did it but that was before my time.  No idea what as boss doles out information like it was gold.

Cathy does that program have you doing 3+ hour runs?  Since I'm walking a 10 mile "run" takes about 3 hours.  My 20 miler was 6 1/2 hours cause I took bathroom breaks.  I can't go that long without eating something.  I'm still tweaking my 50k AS strategy.  I know it will take me at least 10 hours so I may need to supplement what I find at the AS.  If they are too far apart it's definite I'll need to carry something.

Kat so glad you heard something.  It's a relief to be able to plan.

                        RTurtles

                        Running with the Turtles

Diane, Lydiard did not believe in long runs over 3 hours.  Keeping in mind that this is for marathoners.  So the long run was capped at 2.5 to 3 hours with a mid week long run that is almost the same length.  His thinking was that runs longer than this caused too much tissue damage to recover from, 3 days being the recovery period.  If the runner doesn't recover in 3 days, then the workload is too high.

How this fits in with the run/walk or ultras, I don't know.     Doing your 3 hours without fueling should cause your body to adapt to burning fat, and beyond that I would take in the fuel you feel that you need.  You may find that you can go further and further without fueling in training.  During a race though, fueling would be recommended of course.

I am beat. I went to bed at 9:30 last night, yet when Riley got me up at 5:30, I let him out and fed him and went back to sleep. Up at 7, which made this morning's run miserable. Who are we kidding, it would be miserable at 5:30, it was just more miserable at 7:30. From the local weather guy:

With highs generally in the mid-90s, and lows in the upper-70s, temperatures so far this month are running about 5 degrees above normal for early June. We’re probably going to remain in this warmer-than-normal pattern for about another week before we see the potential for temperatures to back off some next week.

With dew points in the mid-70s, our "feels like" temps have been over 100 since early May. This is going to be a long long summer.

Liz, GO CAPS! Yay on getting your Twin Cities airline tickets! I finally signed up for the race the other day. Hmm, May vs. fall wedding. I ended up choosing a fall wedding because I liked fall colors better. My bridesmaid dresses were dark blue - I guess I could have done that in the spring but back in the day spring was for pastel crap. In fact, I picked the first Saturday of fall and my mom kept trying to get me to switch the date to a week earlier (it was the 24th, so a week earlier would have been the 17th, and my sister got married on April 17, so Mom thought that would be nice easier for her to remember. my sister is divorced now, so it took over twenty years, but I won that argument), but I held firm because I wanted fall. Sorry to go all mammal and make it all about me .

Judy, glad the toe is doing better.

                              Damaris, I don't want summer!

Susan, good call on the workout fail. Loved the fb memory, that seems so long ago that we met up and ran in DC.

Sandy, hey thanks for that earworm, she said sarcastically. Dang it, my library doesn't have that book. They had another one by the same author though, so I got that. It's called "Don't Close Your Eyes." I think if I took your HIIT class I would complain and be sore for a good 2-3 days after. A little progress on sponsorship stuff - I think I got both the letter and agreement pretty much written up, now just need to send out to a bunch of places. Especially the place that already said they'd sponsor us if I just sent them the stuff.

Diane, Badwater gets not just a no but a hell no from me.

Eline, nice change in the temperature! I agree, walking to store would be okay, but walking back a mile with a watermelon, not so much. Try to enjoy the calm workspace while it lasts!

Cathy, nice to see you posting runs. Have fun on the field trip tomorrow. That's got to be a typo, i don't think 50 degrees exists anymore.

Oh, guess who is extroverting this weekend? Sometimes I wonder why I do these things. Baby runner that is going to coach this coming season is coming over Friday afternoon to talk about that. i told her to bring her kids if she wanted and they could play in the pool while we chatted. Then I figured I might as well invite my next door neighbor over as well as her kids are about the same age. Then Friday night I'm going to a neighborhood get together. Saturday is my group run, followed by meeting up with my new walking coach. I am going to be exhausted. Thank goodness I have these nice few days of being alone (DH is out of town through tomorrow) ahead of all that.

Okay, time to finish up that sponsorship stuff and write up an enewsletter to go out tomorrow for Global Running Day. Later, all!

Coaching testimonial: "Not saying my workout was hard but KAREN IS EVIL."
