Notes

Well... That was my last indoor race for a long, long while, perhaps for the rest of my life. I can't say that I am at all disappointed with the effort that I gave or the way that I ran or my strategy. I got out hard and put myself into position to achieve my multi-season goal. I didn't make it, but knowing that I did everything I could and left everything on the track at the armory for my last indoor race is something that I can live with.

Unfortunately, being a senior aerospace engineering student trying to get A's in three classes and finish MQP is not conducive to good training (as evidenced by my past couple weeks). I have given as much focus to track as I could afford and as shown by my recent race times, it was not nearly enough, but that is life. I am at WPI primarily to become a kick-ass aerospace engineer.

Across my entire career of competing against other people inside, I feel that I can't complain. I achieved times that most people could never touch in a million years (1:29, 1:59, 2:33, 4:19, 9:11), had some exceptional accomplishments (4x800 state championship/record, decent placements at several college meets, etc.) and some very low spots (several falls, blow up races, bad relays). All in all, I have been very blessed with success and if I had to go back, I'd do it all over again.

Brian told me to take the week off, which I need to get completely healthy in all spheres: physically, mentally, and emotionally. Then I need to start the process of getting into shape for one last shot at covering myself in glory against athletes of an appropriate caliber. To quote a man of somewhat questionable wisdom, from here on out, "every lap is the bell lap".
