I found, this week, that 90+ mile weeks aren't for me. I'm too tired and sore from work and not enough sleep and too much running. I don't think I'll try to run anything like this week again this summer and perhaps never again. After my long run, I was considering hanging up my spikes for good. To run more volume, I'd have to quit my job or dump Bri and neither of those things are going to happen. I'm going to cut back on the miles to a reasonable level (80-85) for the rest of the summer and go back to 1-2 workouts per week. That's what I respond to and I don't want to be burning myself out with too many junk miles.

This week has been very enlightening. I now know exactly where running fits in my priorities (lower than I thought) and why many elite runners don't have jobs or girlfriends. I also learned that although I may get pretty fast, I will certainly never reach anything nearing elite.
