I've been reading Daniel's Running Formula and based on my recent mile time, his charts give me a VDOT value of 65 which I thought was too aggressive given my tendency to perform better over shorter distances. I had planned on doing 8xmile in 5:41 (associated with a VDOT of 63) with 1 minute rests. I was feeling really good at ~5:30 (the pace predicted by the charts) after a couple so I kept with it. I could have continued but the weather was really poor and my hands were starting to go numb and I may have wimped out.
I am really happy with this workout. Working out in the evening has its advantages - my muscles are a little looser and I'm better fed and better hydrated than I am in the morning. This probably helped this workout go so well.
