The Night Runner (as my Frankie calls me nowadays) strikes again. Tonight is a Fr night and there is nothing more pleasurable than finishing for the week with a run and having the best start for the weekend. The way things are with work a long while now demand celebration for the things that matter. Weekends and life matters more to me but been able to run naturally it does make all the difference in my life. I want to run more ..work less ....live more.

Weather was pretty mild this evening. Too mild! I felt too hot despite the fact that I was wearing just one layer of clothes. Sudden changes in temperature! There is no better thing than seeing the town lit up with the reflection of the beams of light in the river and listening to the sound of the current of the river while running alongside it. The moment then becomes eternity. I did not plan to do so many miles today. But every day is a day by itself. My soul takes me running. I just wanted to go with the body and the body took me around comfortably and pleasurably. The town was quiet as everyone was dashing going home after work getting ready for the pubs and night life. It is amazing how the town gets so busy between 5 and 6 pm on a Friday evening and suddenly after 6 pm there seems to be no movement of people or cars but empty streets almost like a ghost town. It is then that one can listen to water flow and observe all things that become almost invisible during the day. It is something magnificent about night time almost like a secret magical blanket covers everything and then reveals (when lift) the magic under.

A little / nice surprise nearing the end of my run which motivated me even more. As I was running with approx. 300 yards to finish my run there were 4 young boys in the dark (no more than 10/11 yrs). They started calling me some name that did not make any sense to me. As I was running on the flat and slightly down hill one of them started running behind me as almost trying to catch me. I then shouted come and catch me then and increased speed to my fastest I could ever imagine for 10 to 20 sec. I could then feel the young boy closing up the gap and levelling along side me as fast as light. I could not believe it. He was so fast on his feet that I made a point to shout out 'You are a great runner and a fast one, you must run for your School'. The boy kept running and had a smile on his face. Still cannot believe the power and speed he had on his legs within sec.

My run felt easy apart from a little niggle from the right hamstring. The hamstring issue seems to be still there to remind me of the Do's & the Don'ts. But it is easing down. I have, somehow, negotiated with my body what matters and I behave as long as it does allow me to run. Working along with the body. One thing, however, is for sure that my feet need new shoes. Tomorrow maybe I will be able to get a descent pair and run in style.
