Notes

A relatively easy run in rainy and windy conditions. Today, though, I was not in great shape. I felt heavy, slightly tired and sluggish all day along. I had to push myself getting out there in the rain and keep moving. One of these days I guess!!! The main thing is that I pushed myself and got out there. On most times it gets easier thereafter.

Franc came with me in his running gear to start with and for first 1/4 of a mile when he made his way back home. His knee was painful and there was no way that he could carried on. Back on his bike on a wet/windy day is not good news. But he did go back and cycled for a few miles which is the main thing too.

The way things are for both of us is Run when you can & cycle if you cannot run. All matters in order to keep the 'chin up' and maintain fitness. It is not easy.

The body in mysterious ways, at times, gets 'good' and responsive whilst at others 'out of the blue' becomes lazy, stiff and inflexibly heavy. Could it be 'Old Age'? Who knows?

Back to today's run. . . . .. . . . . I did more miles than had expected. I said to myself that 'Run when you Can' and get the extra two miles even in the rain. Rain does not bother me an wind makes me feeling stronger. Weather elements do not matter when legs and body are strong. It is only 'skin deep'. CS was slightly present but after the run. As Franc was massaging both legs so much CS re-surfaced and became apparent. It is still hibernating waiting for the cold weather. It is a sneaky condition. While you think that it is no longer there you suddenly experience the nipping and shooting pains along with the pressure alongside the inner part of the leg.

Deep tissue massage helps me so much and Franc has mastered this. Even by touching he can tell right away where the problem is. So much relief for me indeed. During the massage I can feel the blood flowing in my veins and circulation going whilst the leg coming alive again and feeling warm. On occasion I may experience numbness but not as often as used to. I do know, however, and feel that the leg (especially the right one) has problems in the calves and inner side/ lower part. The more pain I experience there the more I need Franc's hands to hold and do the trigger point work. So much needed pain which gives me so much relief. It is a peculiar thing to have the pain in order to experience relief. But this is how it works with CS.

I need to allow a few more days now for recovery and then run at an easy pace again and listen to the body. The difficulty is nowaday I am missing my morning stretching due to thumb problems. I need gradually to build up 6 weeks now since my regular morning yoga/stretching/sit ups etc routine. I miss it so much as it has been 10 years since it has been part of my morning life. NEED TO START AGAIN DOING WHAT I CAN.
