I'd been really struggling with my workouts leading up to this race so I was a little skeptical how well I'd do. I'm happy with my best 5K time of the season, but the rate of improvement isn't quite what I would have liked after logging so many miles. I'm sure being in a calorie deficit has had a lot to with that though.
The race itself was really nice. It was a little on the warm side, but considering how hot this summer has been it's about the best I could have hoped for for an evening race.
Really happy with how I paced myself again. I really feel like I've been doing a good job gauging my effort level based on how I feel. I only looked at my watch at the beginning to make sure I didn't go out too fast (which I still did). So it's pretty nice that I ran such consistent splits without any aid. Started my kick a little too early and really had to gut it out to get to the line.
