Yooowwwch! I seriously underestimated (or failed to consider) how hot the afternoon ground would be. The blacktop paths were particularly bad and I frequently had to run in the grass to avoid them. My pace got pretty slow by the end because my feet were so scorched and tender. Luckily there doesn't seem to be any blisters so this should be a good thing for strengthening my plantar skin.
