first official workout of the summer. didn't go quite as planned but there are both positives and negatives stemming from it. starting with the L's, i bitched out and didnt do 4 miles like i planned. most of this is just me being a pussy and i'll readily admit that. a lot of that decision comes from my hesitation to push when i start getting tired because of how frequently my hip/hamstring has tightened up this summer. i likely would've been fine given my full warm up but i've been so hesitant and tentative because in the long run i just want to stay healthy. moving on to the W's from today, i got some tempo in, which will ultimately be good for my body as i continue to get back into real workouts. i feel that i'm at my best and feel my best when i do regular workouts frequently. yeah, ive done some progression runs this summer and hit some long runs a little hard, but nothing specifically treated as a workout. that mindset and mentality is something never to be forgotten and i wish my body wouldve felt up to doing workouts at the beginning of july like i had initially planned. additionally, i am at least satisfied that i ran decently fast feeling relatively smooth. my sense of pace was kinda off, especially being by myself for this, but it is at least a higher level of quality although i know i am fitter. also, even though i didnt go the full 4, this will help my body start to translate into workouts again and you bet i'll be doing the full distance next week. its a tough balance between working your ass off and going hard and being smart and not being a pussy about it but i'm doing my best. on a side note, my ears were popped this whole run for some reason which was really annoying but whatever
