Not the result we were looking for. Race was much faster than anticipated. Got out hot and proceeded to positive split every consecutive 1k: 3:01, 3:03, 3:05, 3:07, 3:27. Felt pretty good through 3k in 9:10, started hurting the last mile and completely blew up the last 4 laps. Disappointing but wasn't in the right mental state to get it in. Felt terrible all week plus the achilles was honestly just in my head. Honestly I think having the last 3 weeks off from work actually hurt me. Screwed up my routine, felt more tired and less motivated on my runs even though I was able to sleep in and run during the daylight. Lesson to be learned there for sure.

Writing this a few days after definitely gives me a little more clarity. Emotions were really hot right after the race - Felt washed up and never wanted to race again. Give that a few hours and watching the rest of an unbelievable track meet (for RPI and in general) I'm feeling super inspired and motivated again. Positive was that I did feel pretty good running faster than PR pace for most of the race and I think even with just a better mindset and maybe more even pacing I could PR.

Achilles really doesn't feel too bad even after the race (haven't felt it since sunday, writing this on tuesday). Couple days on the bike + a couple days easy and hopefully we can hop right back on the horse.
