7th title in a row. Tough day, 90 on the heat index and no shade on the course. Thompsen took it out hard and Norvell stuck back with me, but soon moved at the top of the first incline. I was strung out and sitting in third, 10 sec back at the mile. Slowly but surely moved past thompsen after the hairpin. The heat was brutal but a more conservative race plan seems to be working but for the life of me, couldn't reel in Norvell. We made the turn on Kirby and worked to close the gap, finally pulling even just to have him surge away again nearly breaking me. I gave it one last painful push about 600m to go. Pulled even, and rode the momentum past him kicking wildly. My form was complete shit but at least I was holding him off. Didn't celebrate just finished, gasping. Felt bad but not unrunnable obviously.
