2nd place, 15:46. The weather was not on my side this morning. 15 mph south wind with gusts up to 22 mph, luckily the rain held off and it wasn't too cold (54). The start was uphill but I felt strong as I strode up it, trying in vain to stay close to O'Hare. Tully and I were side-by-side at the mile in 4:51 after we cruised down the other side of the opening hill. the 180 degree turn at 1500 killed the momentum so I tried hard to get back on the fast(ish) pace while Chris pulled further ahead. Had to go up and over the overpass that takes you over the train tracks and it is very steep. Tully started to fall off as we climbed and I pushed a little hard for a gap. the 2 mile (9:53) was at the top of another 180 degree turn but once I made it, it was headlong back into the gusty wind. I couldn't really use the slight downhill to my advantage because of the wind. got to the overpass again and I was pretty much cooked at that point. there was no way I was going to catch O'Hare who ended up running 14:47, and Tully was way back. I still forced myself to stay engaged and worked the last little climb before the downhill finish. 3 mile in 15:06. The time may be garbage but the effort was there. I ran hard and that's all I really cared to do.
