Notes

1st place, 1:07:29. It was a pretty humid, warm morning but the wind and forecasted rain held off. Looking around I didn’t see anyone I thought would be a threat so the race plan became “run hard, no splits.” With this being my first real race since Houston, i just wanted to feel the burn and work at a slightly uncomfortable level (even if I had to self-impose it). Took it out hard-ish and separated immediately, I didn’t no see anyone else for the rest of the race, just me an d the lead cars. There were some rhythm-breaking hills through out the course but nothing was extreme. Around 5 miles I felt some GI distress coming on but no bad enough to put stop. It got worse gradually but by the time I was close to panicking I was close enough to the finish line. Worked well through the race and actually and surprised I ran as fast as I did completely solo. I think there may be some power to not being super pace conscious. There were definitely some times were I let off the gas and would cruise, just as many times as I would push it just to push. The pacing ended up a bit all over the place but glad I could still drop a couple sub-5’s solo.
