Notes

1hour easy, 1 hour at 6:00 pace. I was running on fumes this morning. Evan, Chloe, Kaylin and I went out to a brewery last night for dinner when I got back from work so I stayed up a little later than I should have. I woke up about a dozen times at night and felt like I barely slept. The temp was rapidly warming and by the end of the run it was already in the high 80's. My groin was marginally better than last night and even at a pace north of 7:00 I felt like I was working as we rounded the Rez. I was worried I wouldn't even get close to finishing the quality portion. At least the conversations around marriage and religion kept my mind off it somewhat. My quads were crying with every step and I was sure they'd be screaming once the pace dropped another minute. I tucked in behind Noah and Austen as we ramped up and with the hot wind at our backs we were rolling 5:4x's. We turned to hit Monarch and the gradual uphill was a beast. The wind was in our faces for every uphill stretch this morning. Austen only had 30' so when he stopped I tried to surge to get with Noah after lagging about 20m back for the past 10'. I was grinding away, feeling my quads and calves and hips all telling me to stop. I began to bargin. Make it to 1:40. We turned on Niowt Rd and began the most brutal of climbs into the wind. Ok, 1:45 and I'm done. Almost by the grace of God when I turned to go with the wind down the dirt street of Monarch I felt like come back. I ran a 5:41 to chip away half of the distance between Noah and I. 1:50 should do. Ok, maybe 1:55. Oh what the hell is another 5 min?! Noah waved me on as I came within a few strides in the final minutes. We finished together and again, it felt as if I had finished a race considering the condition of my poor leg muscles.
