2x2 Mile @MP, 1 mile @ 5:00, 800 quick to finish; all with 4’ rest. Had Landes as a workout partner this morning. It was nice to just have someone to workout with again. Started off the first 2 mile into the wind and may have overcompensated, but after the first mile we settled back in. 5:13.3/5:16.9 (10:30.2). After being Opened up from that we actually were talking a good bit and ran more even splits. 5:14.6/5:15.1 (10:29.8). Wanted to build into the mile, told him I wanted to start at 5:10 for the first half then close but once we were 4:52 through the first third I turned to him and said screw it, let’s ride it to the end. 4:50.5. With the extra quickness of the mile, I was feeling frisky for the 800. Evan wasn’t feeling great so I told him we’d run about the same pace as the mile and aim for 2:20-25. Again I was a little quick. Went a little over the 800 since I had to take a manual split, watch said 2:18.1, was probably closer to 2:16 high, 2:17 low. Hip was feeling much better. Only felt a painful jolt once during the MP portions and not at all for the faster stuff. I’m feeling more confident about my race after today, especially since now it’s just easy running until race day. Statics and BHR after. 30’ in the NormaTec Hips and 15’ of hot tub soaking on campus.
