7 sets of 1200 w/60”+400 w/3’. Took a couple minutes after the progression warm up to change into fly’s (my Soleus was pretty much 100% and I wanted to run quick if my body was willing). The 1200s were supposed to be Tempo-ish pace and the 400s relatively fast. The “secret” was making the 400 hurt then trying to come back with a controlled 1200 effort again before carefully brutalizing myself again. Mitch and I traded pacing duties on the 1200s until he dropped out after #4. He took me through the 200 of my 400 as well and was usually 32. From the start I was uncomfortable but it leveled off and never got unbearable. Mitch was a good distraction for the early reps. 3:47.3/66.3, 3:45.3/64.5, 3:43.7/64.7, 3:42.5/63.9. When mitch stepped out I had to really focus on the effort because the shock of a strong 400 left a bit of lactic burn in my legs and then 3’ set rest started to get shorter. 3:38.1/64.1. After 5 I was convinced I would only make it to 6. After the previous couple 400s I was getting nauseous immediately once I finished. 3:36.9/64.3. Finally got myself in a good headspace to beardown through the myre of mental fog. 3:35.1/63.5. When I closed out the final 400 I laid down on the track.
