Notes

I have been dreading this run for a few days now. For whatever reason I was just not confident I could hit the appropriate paces, even though Johnny said marathon effort, not pace. Something about the volume is intimidating, even though I have enough experience to know I can get it done. Had Landes as a workout partner for the first time, and part of me was afraid of getting dropped, the other knew I needed him there to maximize the effort. I did 7 around my normal long run pace before meeting Evan. We did 3 for his part of the warm up which put me at 10.2 by the time the workout really started. did 4x 1.5 miles @ Marathon effort w/ 1 mile steady between. went 7:55 (5:20), 7:53(5:17), 7:53 (5:18), 7:52 (5:16). with recovery miles of 5:49, 5:50, 5:52, 5:58. The weather wasnt as much of an issue as I had anticipated, stayed right around 80 with a dp of 69. We hit the first rep pretty much dead on, and even rolled the last half mile with a smooth downhill. ran the following rep shoulder to shoulder and grabbed a water bottle with roctane in it. tried to drink as much as i could but probably only got 3-4 oz down. #3 was where I started to feel it. Worked the first mile just to match the previous, then focused on staying with Landes for the last bit instead of keying off the watch which helped. we opened up strong for the last rep and had our fastest mile split. I was pressing at this point but keeping stride with the former jayhawk. stopped for water and a poop break after the last steady mile and jogged back to our cars.
